Even the finest quarterbacks occasionally fail to pass the ball, and even the best receivers get blocked by defenders. So, what are your options when passing appears to be impossible? Should players give up the ball and accept the turnover, or should a throw-away be used strategically? That’s correct; tossing the ball away may be a game-saving move in Madden 23. In Madden 23, how do you do a throw-away?
Drift back and push the right stick (R3) to throw the ball away when in the passing pocket. Aim for one of the out-of-bounds zones using the left stick. To accomplish the same thing on PC, hit X before passing the ball. Throw the ball away while still standing in the passing pocket. Otherwise, the quarterback will be fined.
A throw-away, unlike a pass, does not have a recipient. To put it another way, the passer throws the ball out of bounds. This is frequently done to prevent losing the ball or having to deal with fumbles or turnovers.

There are several ways to avoid sacks, fumbles, and interceptions in the upcoming Madden 23 season. Pump fake and quarterback give-up are two more alternatives to throw-away. Here’s how to execute each of them.
Double-tap the receiver’s button to pump fake. This allows the quarterback to deceive the defense with a false passing motion, creating a space in the defensive line.
Hold the LT button and push the right joystick (R3) at the same time for a quarterback give-up. The quarterback throws himself to the ground and saves the ball without tossing it away using this maneuver.
