MAFS contestant calls out show after he “lost money” from Season 11

Richard Sauerman, a participant on season 11 of MAFS, has strongly criticized Channel Nine, alleging that they cheated him and his fellow contestants.

The final episode of Married At First Sight Australia’s 2024 season aired on April 8, marking the recent conclusion of the season.

Despite the reunion taking place less than a month ago, Richard Sauerman is already making public accusations about Channel Nine “ripping off”contestants on the reality TV show.

During a discussion on the Yahoo Australia podcast “Behind The Edit”, the 62-year-old motivational speaker disclosed that he suffered financial losses during his time on the show due to inadequate compensation, and he was not the only one.

The discussion commences at 32:00.

During an interview with hosts Lachlan Guertin and Tahlia Pritchard, Richard was asked if he would be open to participating in another reality TV show. In response, he expressed uncertainty but mentioned he would be open to discussing it.

“If I were to be invited back to television, like on Married At First Sight, I would have a few questions regarding compensation,”Richard shared, curious about the potential offerings. He mentioned that his previous experience on the show did not result in favorable financial outcomes.

During his time on the experiment, he elaborated that he had “lost work”and gained nothing from it. He argued that contestants should receive higher compensation, considering the show’s immense success and profits for Channel Nine, stating that it is unfair and unjust.

Based on Richard’s statement, participants were only making $150 per day, which he described as “pocket money”.

“As soon as the end of October arrives, there’s the November reunion, followed by Christmas and New Year in December and January. I’ve been out of work for six months and I desperately need to find a job. I don’t have a lot of money saved up.”
