On Friday, October 18, 2024, Kadokawa initiated the streaming of the primary promotional video for the highly anticipated Magic Maker anime series, announcing its premiere slated for January 2025. The promotional material also confirmed that the series will air in Japan on networks including TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, BS NTV, and AT-X. Regrettably, this latest update did not include any further details regarding its release.
The newly released promotional video introduced more cast members for the Magic Maker anime. Additionally, the production team unveiled a fresh key visual showcasing the main characters from the story, while also providing information about the opening theme song. Although details regarding the ending theme were not included in this update, it is expected to be highlighted in the next significant announcement regarding the series.
New Key Visual Unveils Central Characters of Magic Maker Anime
The latest cast announcements for the Magic Maker anime features Sora Amamiya portraying Rose, Yu Serizawa as Rafine, Aoi Koga as Brigitte, Noaya Miyase as Cole, Mitsuri Miyamoto as Gawwain, Megumi Toyoguchi as Ema, and Masayuki Akasaka as Grast. The siblings Shion and Marie will be played by Megumi Han and Ai Kakuma, respectively.
Rose, voiced by Amamiya, will play a significant role alongside Shion and Marie, forming the core trio highlighted in the new key visual. This image depicts Shion appearing to wield magic, while Rose and Marie carry distinct types of swords. Nevertheless, this portrayal seems at odds with the original setting of Kazuki Kaburagi’s light novels, illustrated by Kururi, entitled Magic Maker Isekai Maho no Tsukurikata.
Translated as How to Perform Alternate World Magic, the narrative follows a man who meets an unfortunate end in the modern world due to a heart attack. Always dreaming of mastering magic, he rejoices upon being reborn in a fantasy realm as a baby named Shion. However, young Shion’s excitement soon turns to disillusionment when he learns that magic is nonexistent in this new world.
Born into a noble lineage, Shion has an older sister named Marie. The two siblings visit a lake, where they encounter a mysterious event reminiscent of magic, rekindling Shion’s hope. Inspired, he resolves to become the first magician of this world and embarks on a quest to investigate and comprehend the principles of magic.
Kazuomi Koga is directing the Magic Maker anime at Studio DEEN, assisted by Keiichiro Ochi, who is responsible for the series scripts. Character designs are in the hands of Takayuki Noguchi, with music composed by Kei Yoshikawa and Kana Hashiguchi. Music production for the series is being managed by TOY’S FACTORY.
The Magic Maker light novel series commenced as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro platform in June 2017, a project that remains ongoing. The light novels officially started in May 2020 and continue to be published. A manga adaptation was launched in June 2021 but concluded in February 2023.
