Major Boruto character “should have died”, but Kishimoto was forced to change direction

Masashi Kishimoto, the author of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, initially planned to kill off a significant character. However, upon the request of his fellow author and artist, Mikio Ikemoto, he decided against it.

In order to generate buzz for the re-release of the Boruto movie in theaters, Kishimoto and Ikemoto participated in a short interview. In this interview, they addressed questions that had been gathered from fans, sharing insightful information about the characters.

Apart from discussing his remorse regarding Sakura and the truth behind Sarada’s jacket, Kishimoto also revealed his original intention to kill off a significant character in Boruto Two Blue Vortex. According to the author, “There was another crucial character who was supposed to die, but Ikemoto advised to spare ‘him’.”

Additionally, he emphasized, “It would ruin the surprise if I revealed it.”

Therefore, it is unclear which character was originally intended to receive a death sentence before Ikemoto convinced Kishimoto to change his mind. It is possible that Sasuke, who is currently in a weakened state but alive, was the intended victim. Alternatively, it could have been Inojin, who had a close brush with death in Chapter 10 but managed to survive.

Despite having a mysterious and crucial character, Kishimoto considered killing off Code but ultimately decided against it. In discussing this decision, he shared that he believed Code should have died in one of his battles, but he and Ikemoto will continue to plan for his future.

This implies that Code may play a significant role later in the story. Perhaps he will meet his demise after fulfilling his purpose, as per Kishimoto’s original intention. Currently, he has been surpassed in power by both Boruto and the Shinju.

Boruto fans are also chiming in on this revelation. One person, who goes by the username “howlxithree”on X, expressed their thoughts by stating, “Without Ikemoto, we might not have enough characters for the climax of Boruto. Kishimoto will essentially become a soul reaper.”

“Someone else joined in, expressing gratitude that Ike had been there to prevent Kishi from being labelled as the most heartless author.”

“Another user suggested that this might indicate that something significant is in store for Code in the future, potentially altering the course of the story.”

One fan commented that Ikemoto said, “We should focus on development before killing them.”

On August 25, Kishimoto and Ikemoto will be providing a comprehensive interview, revealing additional captivating information about the manga’s storyline and the authors’ methods of writing.

Currently, determine whether Himawari has become the new jinchuriki and the manner in which Kurama returns from his death.
