If you’re searching for your next true crime fixation, there’s no need to look any further. Netflix has announced that Worst Roommate Ever will be getting its own spinoff series, and it’s coming sooner than you may expect.
The second season of Worst Roommate Ever premiered in July, following the anthology format and presenting four new cases of roommates who make simple acts like leaving the toilet seat up seem like a generous gesture.
Netflix has yet another surprise for true crime fans, as it’s gearing up to launch Worst Ex Ever, a fresh documentary series that delivers on its promise – instead of highlighting nightmarish roommates, it will delve into dysfunctional romantic partnerships.
The spinoff’s first episode is expected to arrive on the streaming service in the near future, making it easily accessible. Here’s everything you need to know about Worst Ex Ever and its plot. Caution: some individuals may find the content disturbing.
Release date & time
The highly anticipated release of Worst Ex Ever will be available on Netflix starting Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 12am PT / 3am ET.
If you are located outside of the US, this is when you can anticipate its arrival in various parts of the world:
- 4am Brazil
- 8am UK
- 9am Central European Summer Time
- 12:30pm India Standard Time
- 5pm Australia
- 7pm New Zealand
You will have the option to stream all four episodes at once, eliminating the need to watch new installments on a weekly basis.
Despite initially planning to release Worst Ex Ever on August 14, Netflix made a schedule change when they added American Murder: Laci Peterson to their lineup for that day.
Worst Ex Ever: Exploring Four Chilling Cases
The upcoming true crime series will center on four cases involving terrifying ex-partners, including chilling betrayals and murder plots.
Despite the lack of further information at this time, it is confirmed that Episode 1, ‘Dating the Devil’, will feature the stories of multiple women who have dated Benjamin Obadiah Foster, with survivor Justine Siemens being one of them.
Prior to their meeting, Foster had already been incarcerated for battery, but he chose not to disclose his history of violence. Once Siemens became aware of this, she reported it to their workplace which resulted in his termination.
Ben’s ex Amber also appears in Worst Ex Ever to share her story
Foster kidnapped Siemens and subjected her to days of abuse. In the docu-series, Siemens describes the experience as beyond torture.
The events that ensued included a manhunt resulting in the deaths of two men. The ordeal concluded on January 31, 2023, when Foster took his own life with a gunshot.
His situation serves as a powerful reminder of how someone who appears to be the ideal partner can turn into your worst nightmare, a revelation that Worst Ex Ever will illustrate through firsthand accounts from those who were affected.
According to the official synopsis from Netflix, the new format is centered on the relatable experience of questioning how well you truly know your partner, and promises to deliver even more shocking stories of betrayal, violence, and deceit.
“Featuring powerful testimonials, bodycam footage, and animated reenactments, Worst Ex Ever exposes the chilling accounts of abusive former relationships.”
