Major One Piece Remake Rumor Debunked by Leaker

The production of the One Piece anime remake is currently underway, but a popular leaker has debunked an ongoing rumor. Here is all the information we have about it.

The highly anticipated One Piece Day 2024 took place on August 10 and 11, giving fans a first look at the upcoming anime remake. During the event, the studio unveiled the concept art and character designs, as well as the exciting news that the team behind Attack on Titan will be working on the project.

After producing the first three seasons of the Attack on Titan anime, WIT Studio handed over the project to MAPPA due to a demanding schedule. As a result, fans are eagerly anticipating the remake, but there have been speculations about the studio utilizing AI technology in their production process.

Despite the theory being widely circulated, One Piece leaker Pew refutes it by stating that the director is firmly opposed to it.

A popular statement claims that the rumors about WIT Studio utilizing AI for the remake of One Piece are entirely untrue. In fact, the newly appointed art director, Tomonori Kuroda, is firmly against the use of AI for any aspect of The One Piece, including background work, and believes it to be the wrong approach.

A fan speculates, “I’m not sure what could lead someone to believe that AI was utilized, but my guess is that it may be due to the appearance of Luffy’s leg in the screenshot. However, I believe this is simply how the leg was drawn in that position.”

According to another source, the use of AI would not be necessary for this project as the animators have already completed all the episodes without it. The dedication and passion of one animator even led them to research French cuisine books in order to accurately draw Sanji’s foods.
