Despite being the subject of many jokes among Dragon Ball Z fans due to his numerous losses in the series, a recent fanart depicting Yamcha’s battle with the Saibaman shed light on a more positive aspect of the fandom. As a character who was never the main focus and lacked opportunities to showcase his battle skills, Yamcha is still an important member of Goku’s inner circle and has consistently supported the main cast to the best of his abilities.
Hence, one could argue that the inclusion of the Dragon Ball Z storyline certainly damaged his character in the eyes of the fanbase. Nonetheless, his endearing charm and unwavering loyalty as a friend have won over a considerable portion of the audience. While it may seem highly unlikely for the franchise to revive his character due to the vast power gap, it would be entertaining to witness him rise to the challenge at least one more time.

Dragon Ball Z Fans Want to See Yamcha Regain Prominence After Recent Fanart Release
Illustrator InHyuk Lee has gained recognition for his cover art for popular comic book companies such as Marvel and DC. Recently, Lee created a piece of fanart depicting the iconic battle between Yamcha and the Saibaman during the Saiyan saga in Dragon Ball Z. This artwork has become infamous due to its portrayal of Yamcha’s untimely demise at the hands of the Saibaman, catching him off guard.
Despite this moment, along with several others, contributing to Yamcha’s reputation as a loser, recent online reactions to this piece have revealed a significant amount of love for the character.
“I only watched DB classic when I was a kid and I thought Yamcha was so b*d*ss,”one person said.
“Yamcha looking like a b*d*ss! Sick work,”another person pointed out.
“Yeah, Yamcha respect! He was owning that fight,”one more fan said.
Despite not leaving a lasting impact during the Dragon Ball Z section of the show, Yamcha was still one of Goku’s earliest human companions. He consistently showed his willingness to assist, even when faced with difficult circumstances.
A prime illustration of this is the Saibaman fight, where Yamcha chose to confront the creature instead of Krillin due to the latter’s previous death, which meant he could not be revived. Despite defeating the Saibaman, Yamcha was taken by surprise and lost his life when the creature self-destructed.
“I love this! Look at that handsome boy!!”one fan said.
“White spikes, death angels, predators and xenomorphs- Yamcha bullies them all. This is a suicide bomber than can bench press the titanic,”another person said.
More love for the character of Yamcha
Despite being a part of the main cast, Yamcha is often depicted as one of the weakest characters. This is due to the significant power creep that began in the Dragon Ball Z franchise.
Despite his unassuming appearance, he is actually one of the most powerful humans in the series. In his fight against the Saibaman, he effortlessly defeated a creature that was on par with Raditz, the Saiyan who easily defeated Goku and Piccolo.
“Yall give Yamcha hell for this but the Saibamen were as strong as Raditz, who was casually mopping up Son Goku & Piccolo a year ago. AND he technically won the fight, which was insane growth from where he was at. Bro just caught with a suicide bomb,”a fan pointed out.
“This is how the fight went in my head. Yamcha wasn’t no slouch. He just human lol”another person said.
Despite being depicted as a loser at times, Yamcha’s popularity among fans is evident through online reactions.
