Makeup Artist ‘The Key Look’ Expresses Regret for Overstepping Bride’s Boundaries After Viral Incident

Keziah Jones, a talented makeup artist, established her upscale bridal hair and makeup business, The Key Look, in February 2020. What began as a modest venture has rapidly expanded from a team of three to fifteen stylists, indicating her promising future.

Jones emphasizes her commitment to providing focused attention to brides on their wedding day. However, this dedication seemed to falter during her services for client Kiana’s wedding on September 7.

Her involvement at Kiana’s wedding gained significant traction on TikTok after she was asked to leave the event. Subsequently, Jones elaborated on her experience in a multi-part video series, apologizing to the couple.

Many viewers expressed support for the bride, asserting that Jones overstepped her professional boundaries by lingering long beyond her scheduled time.

Initially enjoying the festivities, Jones’s experience took a downturn when the groom expressed his discontent with her filming, ultimately leading to her expulsion from the celebration.

“I believed the groom might just have been having a rough patch, and sadly, I was the one who faced the repercussions,” she reflected.

Despite the earlier incident, Jones attempted to return to the wedding, where she noticed other vendors discussing her presence. “I wasn’t embarrassed by the guests, but I felt self-conscious about the vendors being aware of the situation,” she remarked. “I thought I had established a connection with the bride that would allow for open communication.”

“Previous brides have always been candid and open with me, so I am striving to improve my communication skills to avoid similar situations in the future,” Jones noted.

After revealing her experience on TikTok, Jones faced criticism for appearing in the bride’s dress-reveal photos. Feeling “absolutely devastated” upon seeing the final images, she expressed a wish that someone had advised her to step aside. “I can understand why they might be upset,” she acknowledged.

Furthermore, Jones admitted that unexpectedly going viral for the wrong reasons was disheartening. “It’s disappointing to gain attention for negativity. I never foresaw this happening to me, especially considering the effort I’ve put into building my business. While the internet can be a fantastic platform, this experience has shown me its darker side.”

Nonetheless, she shared that her schedule remains “steadily filled,” with her team typically handling five weddings monthly—an impressive consistency.

Although processing the viral situation has been challenging, Jones takes full responsibility for her actions. “My emotions influenced a poor decision, particularly when it came to sharing this on social media,” she admitted.
