Recounting a humorous incident, EXO D.O. revealed that he once joked that performing THIS particular song could potentially land him in the ER. What is the story behind this statement?
On May 8, Harper’s Bazaar Korea’s YouTube channel featured an 8-minute interview with D.O., the main vocalist of EXO, a women’s lifestyle and fashion magazine.
Specifically, he recently showcased his exceptional looks and charm on the May 2024 digital cover of the publication.
In addition to capturing pictorial shots, the magazine also had a conversation with the idol to celebrate the release of their 3rd solo mini-album, “BLOSSOM”on May 7th.
During the interview, the magazine gathered questions from EXO-Ls, the fandom of the featured artist. Among the questions, one fan requested him to answer a balance game question.
“Sing ‘MAMA’ for 1 hour vs Dance to ‘El Dorado’ for 1 hour vs Take a selca for 1 hour.”
Upon hearing this question, D.O. carefully considered his thoughts and promptly declined one of the choices.
“Whoa, how can you choose this question so well? It’s not easy.
If I dance to ‘El Dorado’ for 1 hour, I will go to the ER.”
Truly, how is it possible for him to perform the challenging high notes and intricate choreography of “El Dorado,”an iconic EXO song?

After considering the remaining two options, it became clear that taking selcas for an hour would be the easier choice. However, because D.O. is who he is, he rejected this option and instead opted to sing “MAMA”for an hour.
“Also, if I take a selca for an hour, I will also end up in ER. That’s why I’ll just sing ‘MAMA’ for an hour.”
Fans were left in stitches as the idol chose to perform “MAMA”for an entire hour, a song renowned for its challenging high notes and powerful choreography.
he’d rather tore his vocal chords singing MAMA for one hour than take selcas for an hour 😭😂 https://t.co/LOpJBRgonU

Despite its difficulty level, only a few K-pop idols have ever attempted to cover this song in their discography.
Despite previously speaking about his camera anxiety, D.O. still prefers to spend an hour singing rather than being in front of a camera, which can feel like an eternity for him.
Additionally, supporters lifted their heads in a display of pride for D.O. as it is a testament to the idol’s talent and confidence that he is not fazed by the current controversy surrounding idols’ live singing abilities. This showcases his ability to effortlessly perform for an entire hour if called upon to do so.
At the same time, D.O. – who is highly cherished by EXO-Ls – demonstrated his unique style as a solo artist with the release of his 3rd mini-album, “BLOSSOM,”on May 7.
Do Kyungsoo’s latest album, released eight months after his previous 2nd mini album “Expectation”on September 18th of last year, marks his debut as a solo artist.
“BLOSSOM”features a total of 6 tracks that revolve around the theme of “growth,”inspired by the various emotions experienced in the journey of everyday life and love. The album includes the title song, “Mars,”as well as b-sides “Popcorn,””Simple Joys,””Good Night,””My Dear,”and “About Time.”
