As Hwasa gears up for her solo comeback, a snippet from her second mini-album’s title track, “NA,”has sparked discussions for its resemblance to a PSY song.
On September 19th, the “Diva of K-pop”will make her anticipated return to the music scene with her new album, titled “O,”which reflects her aspiration to embody a “me”that is round and flexible, much like a circle.
This album features the title track “NA,”intended to highlight Hwasa’s allure as an “independent artist unbound by the scrutiny of others.”
Prior to its official release, the song’s snippet was teased through music video trailers and TikTok audio, generating excitement among K-pop fans.
However, even before the complete version was unveiled, “NA”did not receive a warm reception from music fans, particularly K-Netizens, due to its lyrics and beat.
According to netizens, the track bears a resemblance to what PSY, the CEO of Hwasa’s current agency P-NATION, might produce.
Since his rise to global fame with the 2012 hit “Gangnam Style,””NA”appears to echo that trend with striking similarities when compared to both tracks.
Hwasa’s supporters expressed disappointment that, even after a decade since her debut with MAMAMOO, she has yet to fully embrace her distinct artistic direction and image.
