YouTuber Mark Rober has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration with the popular dating app Hinge after his account was deleted multiple times for allegedly impersonating himself.
The former NASA engineer and prominent YouTube creator has garnered an impressive following over the past 12 years, boasting nearly 60 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.
Known as a “friend of science,” Rober shares captivating scientific videos that often explore themes related to robots, lasers, and even the crafting of glitter bombs.
On September 15, 2024, Rober took a temporary break from his typical content to address his issues with Hinge on his X account.
“Hey Hinge, for the second time now you have banned and deleted my account for *checks notes*… ah yes, impersonating Mark Rober,” he stated. “I’ve twice provided proof of identity, and reaching out to your help desk has resulted in no response. Not sure where to go from here.”

His post quickly gained traction on the platform, leaving many users wondering why the celebrated YouTuber would even be using a dating app.
Rober elaborated on his preference for privacy regarding his personal life, revealing that he divorced his wife three and a half years ago. “For the sake of clarity, I generally keep my personal life pretty private for my own protection and those close to me. But yeah, it’s been 3.5 years since the divorce, where I haven’t worn a wedding ring in any videos,” he noted.

As of now, Hinge has not yet issued a response to Rober’s remarks, but reactions from his fans and X users have flooded the comments section.
One user humorously commented, “This sounds a lot like what someone pretending to be Mark Rober might say.”
Another remarked, “Not the crossover I was expecting today.”
Even Twitch star Pokimane joined the conversation, stating that Rober’s experience was “unfortunately relatable.” She also mentioned that she had to give up on the exclusive celebrity dating app Raya after being waitlisted when she applied for membership. “One of the best ways to date is through dating apps, but in the past, when I’ve tried to use dating apps, everybody reports me because they think I’m catfishing myself,” Pokimane shared, explaining her intent to explore a more exclusive option.
