Mark Zuckerberg Plans to Launch Twitch Channel for Streaming His Favorite Game

Mark Zuckerberg is contemplating the creation of a Twitch channel, spurred by his passion for the strategy game Civilization.

During Meta’s annual Connect event held in Menlo Park, California, in late September, Zuckerberg shared insights with Pubity regarding his desire to stream Civilization on Twitch.

“Priscilla checked my Steam account recently and exclaimed, ‘Wait?! You’ve racked up over a thousand hours on this!’” Zuckerberg remarked. “When it comes to strategy games, I truly aspire to be recognized as one of the top players in Civilization.”

“At some point, I believe I should host a Twitch stream showcasing my gameplay with someone else, because I genuinely think I’m on the verge of reaching grandmaster status. It would surprise me if anyone could defeat me in that game,” he added.

Zuckerberg’s connection to Civilization dates back to his middle school days, where it fueled his aspiration to pursue engineering. He even mentioned that he was engrossed in the game when he received his Harvard acceptance email.

“Who remembers where they were and what they were doing when they got that email about their Harvard admission? I was playing Civilization,” he recalled.

Originally created in 1991 by Sid Meier and Bruce Shelley, Civilization challenges players to lead a civilization through the annals of history and to construct an enduring empire, as stated on the official game website.

Furthermore, players take on the persona of renowned historical figures, making essential economic, political, and military choices to achieve various victory conditions.

While the franchise has released six versions so far, fans eagerly await the launch of the seventh edition, scheduled for February 11, 2025.

As of now, Zuckerberg does not yet have a Twitch channel, but the highly anticipated release of his beloved game might just spark the IRL streaming session he hinted at.

Should he decide to create a Twitch channel, he would be joining the ranks of popular streamers like Kai Cenat, xQc, Pokimane, and TommyInnit.

In a related note, Zuckerberg’s competitor, Elon Musk, has been streaming Diablo 4 on X, attracting millions of viewers.
