The highly anticipated TV series Edge of Sleep has finally announced its release date, as revealed by Markiplier in an exciting new YouTube video.
After a several-month hiatus from YouTube, Markiplier returned to provide his fans with significant updates regarding his upcoming show, Edge of Sleep, which is based on his popular podcast of the same name.
Initially announced in 2021, Markiplier’s series was expected to premiere sooner, but he recently shared a fresh video with his growing audience of over 37 million subscribers.
Mark confirmed that Edge of Sleep will officially premiere on October 18, 2024. He candidly mentioned that he “thought [he’d] be gone a week,” but the work surrounding the “movie stuff” has taken longer than anticipated.
While revealing the release date for Edge of Sleep, Mark also stated that he is currently unable to disclose which platform the series will debut on. “We’re legally not allowed to say where it’s coming out until the day it comes out,” he explained. Following this major update, he adopted a more cryptic tone and asked his viewers for assistance in making Edge of Sleep a success.
“If Edge of Sleep can get into the top 10, that will open doors,” Markiplier stated, encouraging fans to “put it on, watch it, rewatch it” and aim for a ranking higher than ten to maximize its chances of success.
He elaborated on the pressures of being a prominent content creator, noting that there is an expectation for high viewership for his projects.
Mark admitted that during the creation of the new show, the perception was somewhat naive: content creators simply believe that if they produce a show, their audience will watch it without issues.
While he has confidence in his fanbase’s support, he stressed that if they can help the show reach the top 10 on its platform, it would greatly benefit his future project, Iron Lung, which he has been developing for quite some time.
The film Iron Lung has been a long-term project for Mark. In March 2024, he informed his audience that it was “close to done.” The success of Edge of Sleep could be a vital factor in moving this film closer to release.
It remains uncertain how closely the TV adaptation will adhere to the narrative of Markiplier’s original podcast, Edge of Sleep.
The official synopsis of the podcast describes it as follows: “When a night watchman finishes his shift, he’s terrified to discover that everyone in the world who fell asleep the night before is dead.”
