YouTube sensation Markiplier has recently provided fans with a much-anticipated update regarding his Iron Lung film, revealing that he has rejected several offers for alternate broadcasts in favor of a dedicated theatrical presentation.

Mark ‘Markiplier’ Fischbach is among the influential content creators transitioning into the film industry. After launching interactive web experiences like In Space with Markiplier and starring in Amazon’s The Edge of Sleep, he is now setting his sights on Hollywood.

In 2023, the YouTuber announced he had developed a feature film adaptation based on Iron Lung, a unique indie horror game where an unsuspecting prisoner navigates the eerie depths of a crimson ocean on a remote moon.

During the October 2023 teaser, Mark stated that the film would be “coming soon to theaters,” although further information has been limited since then.

Now, after a year’s wait, Mark has provided fans with an update on this exciting venture, revealing that he has received various offers for distribution methods outside of traditional theaters.

While he didn’t specify if these proposals included streaming services like Netflix or HBO, he emphasized his commitment to bringing Iron Lung to audiences in a theater setting.

“I won’t settle for anything less than a theatrical release,” he declared during a live stream on October 18. “That film absolutely belongs in theaters. I’ve had chances to go another route, but I’ve passed on them… That’s my vision. That’s what I’m aiming for, and it deserves that,” he asserted.

“It’s more than deserving of that experience,” he added. “Especially considering the quality of some recent films.”
