After nearly a month of sporadic activity, YouTube star Markiplier has announced that he is “officially done”working on his Iron Lung movie in a major update for the film.
Mark Fischbach, also known as Markiplier, has revealed that he is in the final stages of production for his debut feature film, ‘Iron Lung.’ The movie is based on the popular 2022 indie horror game of the same title.
A YouTube video uploaded on June 20, 2024, reveals that Mark has officially completed work on the project, a year after initially announcing it in April 2023.
“Although the movie is not yet released, the main sprint of my work on it is now completed,”he stated. “This has been the longest period of uninterrupted work I have ever experienced. It has been the most challenging project I have ever undertaken.”
Despite the project being completed, Mark mentions that there are still numerous discussions that need to take place with individuals before it is released in theaters, a confirmation he has made.
Despite not having a confirmed theatrical release date, he reassured fans that Iron Lung will hopefully be in theaters soon. He explained that the process of negotiating with theaters is complicated, but they are working towards a release.
Mark has just released his latest project update, and he plans to gradually release more information in other upcoming videos.
Despite the extensive efforts put into creating the movie, this is just the beginning for Mark. He expresses having “countless ideas”for upcoming videos, attributing his growth and knowledge gained from producing Iron Lung.
This is the most recent update that the YouTuber has provided to his fans regarding his Iron Lung movie, for which he holds the roles of lead actor and director. Mark has been dedicating much of his time to the film, even going on a month-long hiatus from YouTube in order to complete the “final stretch”of production in the spring of 2024.
Ever since, he has been inconsistently posting videos – even some filmed from a bathtub in an AirBnB while he finished production.
Mark is determined to release the movie in theaters for fans to watch. He has poured his heart and soul into the film, even being hospitalized during production after filming what he describes as the most violent scene in cinematic history.

The indie horror game, which was first released in 2022, has gained a loyal following and is now receiving the Hollywood treatment thanks to one of the genre’s most prominent supporters.
