Marvel at D23 2024: What News to Expect from the MCU

With Disney’s upcoming special event, we can anticipate a wealth of news about the MCU this weekend, solidifying its position as the largest franchise in the world. Looking forward, let’s explore what Marvel has in store for us at D23.

The MCU reigned supreme at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, as it was announced that Robert Downey Jr would be reprising his role as Doctor Doom.

Despite the highly anticipated releases of Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars, Marvel has yet to reveal much to us. Fortunately, D23 is on the horizon and promises to bring us more exciting updates.

Following SDCC, it will be a tough act to follow, but with luck, Kevin Feige and his team will be able to incorporate even more major surprises into the D23 2024 lineup.

What are we expecting to hear about?

The stars of the upcoming Marvel movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, will be making an appearance at D23. We have already been treated to a glimpse of the film at SDCC, so we anticipate further information and possibly a closer look at Galactus, along with discussions from the cast members.

Up next on Marvel’s agenda are titles such as Thunderbolts, Captain America: Brave New World, and Agatha.

It is highly probable that the initial footage presented at SDCC will be released as a teaser trailer to the public. However, this is not a new occurrence for those who caught a glimpse of it in San Diego.

We can anticipate hearing plenty from Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn. While the actors portraying Marvel’s first family will likely have to keep quiet, any hints about what is to come would be incredibly thrilling.

We are also excited to catch a more extensive glimpse of the main antagonist, Galactus. While he briefly appeared in the sneak peek footage, it would be a delightful treat for fans to see him in all his magnificence. We are hopeful to also hear the enchanting voice of Ralph Ineson, who will portray him.

Thunderbolts

Despite Thunderbolts being relatively close, our knowledge about it remains limited. It has been a while since we’ve seen any images or updates, so it would make perfect sense for a trailer to be released this weekend.

Due to a turbulent production process, it is likely that Marvel will be eager to demonstrate that everything is running smoothly.

Captain America 4

To be honest, there’s already plenty to be thrilled about with Brave New World. The trailer has already introduced Red Hulk, so any additional footage would only ruin the surprise.

We have also received updates from the cast, including a memorable moment of Harrison Ford getting angry on stage at SDCC. What else could one ask for? Perhaps a bit more conversation from the cast and crew, but that wouldn’t be too much to ask for, I suppose.

Agatha

With the premiere of Agatha on Disney+ just a month away, it is likely that a new and final trailer will be unveiled at D23.

Similarly, over the past year, we have been given numerous stills and footage (along with multiple title changes) for Agatha. However, it is expected that Marvel will have one final promotional release. Additionally, discussions with the cast are inevitable, and we are particularly interested in hearing from Kathryn Hahn.

Marvel Animation

At D23, Marvel will also have an animation panel. While there may be some information about X-Men ’97 Season 2, it’s best not to expect a trailer.

We must obtain a trailer for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, as the show is set to premiere in November. As we approach the final stretch, fans are eagerly awaiting a proper glimpse of what is to come.

It is possible that there will also be additional details and potentially a new trailer released for Season 3 of Marvel’s What If…?. As it will be the concluding season of the animated series, Marvel will want to make a big impact.
