Marvel Fans Call for Kang’s Return After Jonathan Majors Sentencing

After Jonathan Majors’ sentencing, there has been a surge of demand from Marvel fans for the reappearance of Kang the Conqueror.

In December 2023, Majors was convicted on two charges for assaulting and harassing his former partner Grace Jabbari. As a result, the MCU removed him from his role as the upcoming main antagonist.

The decision resulted in a reorganization for the MCU, as Kang had been planned to have a significant role in Phase 6 of the superhero series. However, in February, it was revealed that the title for Marvel’s upcoming Avengers 5 would be changed from Kang Dynasty.

Despite initial speculation that Doctor Doom could replace him, fans are now demanding Kang’s return following the announcement that Majors will not be serving jail time.

On April 8, Judge Michael Gaffey declared that Majors would not be required to serve jail time, as he is a first-time offender.

Instead, he is required to attend a 52-week batterer intervention program in LA and continue therapy. The judge also imposed a $250 fine and a full protective order for Jabbari.

After learning that Majors will not be serving time in prison, supporters are urging Marvel to reinstate him. One individual expressed on X, stating: “It’s time for him to reclaim his Kang role.”

According to one individual, the redemption story is just beginning and there is no doubt that he will make a comeback. Another person chimed in, pointing out the favorable treatment he received from the court system and suggesting that Marvel should reconsider and rehire him.

Another person simply expressed their thoughts by tweeting: “@Marvel please bring him back.”

Some individuals do not share this perspective, such as the individual quoted in a tweet stating, “Nah we good, we don’t want abusers in any roles with Marvel.”Another person proposed that the individual “should go to jail,”highlighting their disapproval.

In March 2023, Majors was initially arrested after getting into a dispute with Jabbari, his then-girlfriend, in New York City.

Jabbari was found guilty by a six-person jury, as prosecutors argued that he had a broken finger and a bloody ear.

During her court appearance yesterday, Jabbari shared a victim impact statement expressing, “Being with him changed me into someone else. The emotional and psychological abuse inflicted upon me was equally harmful.”

She asserted, “He shows no remorse, takes no accountability, and is likely to repeat his actions. His pattern of behavior poses a threat to other women and reflects a belief that he is immune to consequences. He continues to be a risk to those in his vicinity.”
