Marvel Fans Criticize Robert Downey Jr. for Cheap CGI in Agatha All Along

Fans of Marvel are accusing Robert Downey Jr.’s substantial salary as Doctor Doom for the CGI in Agatha All Along appearing “low-budget.”

Despite the success of Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel has no plans to release any more movies for the remainder of 2024. However, fans can look forward to some new TV shows, such as Agatha All Along, which will debut in a few months.

The premiere of the Disney+ series was accompanied by the release of its first look photos in Empire Magazine, one of which prominently featured Agatha Harkness and her trademark purple magic.

Despite some fans expressing disappointment with the “cheap”CGI in the film, they were curious as to why it appeared subpar. In response, one X/Twitter user jokingly stated, “I guess RDJ took all the money.”

Ever since it was announced that Downey would be portraying Doctor Doom in Avengers 5, his eye-watering salary has sparked debate among fans.

The experienced member of the MCU is expected to earn a total of $80 million from his performances in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Despite Downey always being one of the highest-paid actors in the franchise, his Doom salary further establishes him as Marvel’s most costly asset.

The studio’s decision to give Downey a significant payday has led some to believe that other MCU projects may suffer from reduced production budgets as a result.

Another fan commented under the photo of Agatha, noting that RDJ’s salary would result in significant cuts to the film’s visual effects.

Despite criticism from some viewers, others have come to the defense of the photo, attributing the awkward-looking magic to subpar editing. According to one user on Twitter, the photo in question was edited by Empire Magazine, not Marvel Studios, and they have a history of poorly edited Marvel characters.

Discover the true appearance of her magic when Agatha All Along debuts on September 18.
