Marvel Reportedly Ends Partnership with X-Men ’97 Creator Due to Egregious Investigation Findings

Marvel has spoken out about the recent dismissal of Beau DeMayo, the creator of X-Men ’97. They state that he was terminated following an internal investigation that uncovered “egregious”findings.

Despite the success of Marvel’s animated series X-Men ’97, there has been much discussion about the firing of the show’s creator, Beau DeMayo, and the behind-the-scenes information surrounding it.

Just one week prior to the premiere of X-Men ’97, Marvel announced their separation from DeMayo. His company email was promptly deactivated, and Marvel wasted no time in informing the cast and crew of his dismissal.

Despite being released, DeMayo has remained mostly quiet, having deactivated his Instagram account and being significantly less active on all social media platforms.

But, the enigma has once again come to light as DeMayo has turned to X to disclose that “Marvel-Disney has not made any effort to invite me to the Emmys for the show I originated.”

Shortly after making this statement, the creator of X-Men ’97 went on to X to reveal that his season 2 credits for the series had been removed due to a fan art he had shared on Instagram in support of Gay Pride in June.

“DeMayo expressed disappointment as this is just another example of the challenging circumstances they faced while working on X-Men 97′ and Blade,”DeMayo wrote.

During the same X thread, the creator of X-Men ’97 assured fans that he will have more updates to share in the near future. However, he also mentioned that he will be temporarily stepping back from social media in order to find a secure environment to fully embrace his identity and interests.

Marvel swiftly responded to the accusations that his absence from the credits of season 2 of X-Men ’97 was a result of the artwork he shared for Gay Pride. Instead, he stated that his termination was a result of serious findings from an internal inquiry.

According to an official statement given to The Hollywood Reporter, Mr. DeMayo was fired in March 2024 after an internal investigation, as confirmed by a spokesperson from Marvel.

The statement also stated that due to the severe nature of the findings, we have immediately ended our relationship with him and he is no longer associated with Marvel.

DeMayo has responded to Marvel’s statement in a subsequent update for X, which can be found on his Twitter account.

“This is their typical approach as Disney-Marvel. They often use legal letters and other evidence to demonstrate their consistent pattern of behavior. It’s a matter of finding a secure outlet. Thank you for your trust and understanding.”

Rest assured, we will continue to provide updates as the story unfolds.
