Marvel has announced the upcoming release of a ‘Aliens vs. Avengers’ series by the creators of 2015’s ‘Secret Wars’ in conjunction with the release of ‘Alien: Romulus.’
Marvel has revealed their upcoming major comic event, and it is sure to make a big impact. ‘Aliens vs. Avengers’ will feature an all-star Avengers team consisting of fan-favorite heroes such as Captain America, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel as they face off against the iconic Xenomorphs.
This will be the first instance of a crossover between Xenomorphs and Marvel characters, but the concept of having them battle superheroes is not a new one. In the past, when Dark Horse Comics had the rights to the Aliens comics in the ’90s and early 2000s, they frequently released crossover stories with other publishers. These collaborations resulted in beloved mini-series such as ‘Superman/Aliens’ and ‘Superman and Batman vs. Aliens and Predator.’
In a conversation with EW, Hickman expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I have always been a fan of the Aliens universe and its rich mythology. The atmospheric and well-designed elements have always inspired my creativity. It was a challenge to merge these two franchises, but I believe Esad and I have found a solution that will satisfy fans of both.”
‘Aliens vs. Avengers’ is the newest addition to Marvel’s collection of 20th Century Fox authorized comics. This ongoing series joins the ranks of other successful crossovers such as ‘Predator vs. Wolverine’ and ‘What If…? Aliens.’ Additionally, Marvel has released numerous ongoing and mini-series featuring Aliens and Predator.
This release is full of synergy as well. ‘Aliens vs. Avengers’ coincides with the premiere of ‘Alien: Romulus.’ It also represents the latest collaboration between Hickman and Ribić, who are rumored to have a major influence on the upcoming phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe following their work on 2015’s ‘Secret Wars.’
