The upcoming event that pays tribute to the Infinity Stones has been disclosed, bringing back memories of their illustrious past.
Marvel has revealed their plans for Infinity Watch, a nine-part event series that will span across several annual issues. The highly-anticipated event will kick off in June with the release of Thanos Annual #1. This marks Marvel’s second major event of 2024 and will be happening simultaneously with Blood Hunt.
The event guarantees that we will witness the Infinity Stones transformed into sentient beings, a homage to their state following the 2018 event, Infinity Wars. During this event, Adam Warlock granted the Infinity Stones awareness, allowing them to decide their own destiny. Since then, five of the stones have been linked to known holders, while the identity of the Mind Stone’s wielder remains a mystery to this day.
The name Infinity Watch is quite intriguing. It was the title given to Adam Warlock’s mismatched group of stone guardians after the events of Infinity War, with the specific duty of keeping the stones from ever being reunited.
Thanos’ most recent appearance was in his own mini-series, where he encountered a reincarnation of his beloved Mistress Death. However, when Death declined his plea to return to her realm, Thanos trapped her inside a black Infinity Gem and managed to flee despite interference from The Illuminati.
