Players of Marvel Rivals have united in their appeal to game developers, urging for the introduction of a competitive feature currently exclusive to higher ranks. While the game has garnered significant success since its launch, players often find themselves facing unavoidable frustrations associated with competition, including encounters with cheaters, one-trick players, and teams skewed heavily towards damage-per-second (DPS) characters.
The experience can be particularly aggravating in ranked matches. Reports indicate that players have been exploiting certain heroes to gain an unfair advantage, making the process of climbing through the ranks significantly easier for them.
Call to Action: Implement Hero Bans in All Ranks
Currently, hero bans are only available to players in the Diamond tier and above. This limitation has led to a rising discontent among lower-ranked players who express frustration over frequently facing formidable characters like Hawkeye and Hela. A user in a recent Reddit thread shared their dissatisfaction after a game against the duo, stating, “It was awful.” They emphasized that it feels unjust for only higher ranks to benefit from the hero ban feature.
Another user echoed these sentiments, asserting, “If everyone starts in bronze rank, a smurf can just create a new account, lock in Hawkeye or Hela, and wipe the lobby.” This sentiment has gained traction among the community, with many participants expressing the need for implementing these bans across all ranks.
One commenter pointed out the inconsistency of being in the Diamond rank, only to be placed with Platinum players while losing the option to ban heroes. They labeled this design choice as “kind of silly.”
Additionally, players noted that the feature would help in combating players who intentionally queue with lower-ranked allies to exploit certain heroes, making the ranking experience “painful” for others. A user argued that introducing hero bans in lower ranks allows those players to better prepare for the challenges of higher competition.
Moreover, it was suggested that such bans could encourage players to diversify their hero choices, creating a more dynamic and engaging gameplay environment. As one user put it, “It also incentivizes people to branch out and play multiple heroes in case their main gets banned.”
As of now, there is no indication from developers regarding an expansion of hero bans beyond the Diamond rank. Whether or not this feature will be made available to all ranks remains uncertain, but the community’s call for change is clear.
