Marvel Rivals Developers Respond to Steam Purchase Problems Preventing Players from Buying Lattice

Developers of Marvel Rivals have recently responded to an issue affecting players on Steam, specifically those who find themselves unable to make in-game purchases on PC.

Despite a successful launch characterized by a rapidly growing player base, this much-anticipated title, often referred to as the “Overwatch killer,” has not been without its obstacles.

As is common in live-service games, Marvel Rivals has encountered its share of challenges, but this particular issue is particularly detrimental as it affects the developers’ financial gains.

At present, some PC players are unable to purchase the premium currency known as Lattice. This restriction limits access to numerous popular skins and launch-day bundles, leading to significant frustration within the community. The developers have already addressed this concern publicly.

While Marvel Rivals is making impressive strides within the Steam platform, not all players are experiencing a seamless launch.

Purchase Issues with Marvel Rivals on Steam

In a recent update on X (formerly Twitter), the developers confirmed that “some players are encountering purchase issues on Steam.” Fortunately, it appears that this problem is limited to PC users and does not affect console players at this time.

While there is no definitive workaround available yet, the developers have shared a few troubleshooting steps for those experiencing issues. If you find yourself affected, consider trying the following:

  • Close Marvel Rivals and restart your Steam client.
  • Access Steam settings, navigate to the ‘In Game’ tab, and ensure that Steam Overlay is enabled while playing.
  • If problems persist, try reinstalling Steam and then restarting the game.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, players may need to wait for an official fix. The Marvel Rivals development team is actively working to address the situation, ensuring that a solution is forthcoming.

Given that Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play title, this purchasing problem significantly impacts the primary revenue stream for the game. Therefore, it’s crucial for the developers to implement a fix swiftly. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
