Marvel Rivals Players Collaborate to Manipulate In-Game Survey for Free Heroes

‘A group of Marvel Rivals players are collaborating to manipulate an in-game survey focused on in-game purchases, enabling them to obtain free heroes when the game is officially launched.’

The closed beta for Marvel Rivals is currently in its final week, with numerous fans expressing their admiration for NetEase’s Overwatch replica. Despite this, some, including our editorial team, are wondering if the game will address the same issues that Overwatch has already resolved in order to be successful in the genre.

Despite this, the beta still offered players the opportunity to choose from a wide range of 23 characters and also gave them the option to buy additional cosmetic items with in-game currency.

There is a concern among rival fans that NetEase may try to implement a similar strategy upon the game’s release, as many free-to-play shooters often lock certain characters behind a paywall.

The source of the concern is a poll within the game that Closed Beta participants are able to take, in which they are asked, “Which method of acquiring heroes in our game do you favor?”.

Rivals players are able to change between 23 characters in every match free of cost.

The choices available for players were as follows: a) All heroes were obtained at no cost; b) Most heroes were obtained at no cost, with a few being acquired through purchases or missions; c) A few heroes were obtained at no cost, with the majority being acquired through purchases or missions; d) Other options.

The survey was ultimately posted on a Reddit discussion where individuals encouraged others to select the first choice in order to receive complimentary access to all characters upon the release of Marvel Rivals.

One of the players expressed, “I sincerely hope that we are able to convince them not to implement hero unlocks. It is simply not suitable for games where players have the ability to switch heroes during a match.”Similarly, another player added, “I truly hope that some individuals do not choose to vote for the paid unlocks.”

Another user expressed concern about the game’s full release, stating, “The intention is obvious. By not displaying results, they can justify releasing a select few premium P2P heroes without receiving as much backlash. I anticipate some of these heroes to be subpar while others may be overpowered.”

Despite Rivals still being in closed beta, many players have raised concerns about the seemingly pointless grind to reach level 42 in the Battle Pass, as most of the rewards will no longer be accessible after the beta period.
