Players of Marvel Rivals have expressed their frustration over a particularly “obnoxious” feature that is hindering their gameplay experience by slowing down navigation.
Since its launch, Marvel Rivals has quickly attracted a substantial player base. Offering an impressive roster of 33 heroes, each equipped with unique abilities and Team-Ups, players have been diving into NetEase’s free-to-play shooter for an exhilarating new experience.
Although the game has received widespread praise and ranks among the most popular titles on Steam, it is facing a notable backlash concerning certain aspects, particularly the navigation of the game’s menus.
Frustration Over Unskippable Cutscenes in Marvel Rivals
A recent discussion on Reddit humorously dubbed opening the tournament tab as a task that could take “51 years.” This sentiment resonates with many players who share the view that excessive cutscenes and animations add unnecessary delays to menu interactions.
Each hero in Marvel Rivals features a distinct menu animation. However, when accessing the tournament tab, players are greeted with a cinematic filled with flashy effects. While the cutscene duration is relatively short, the absence of a skip option is a significant complaint.
Moreover, players encounter an animation every time they hover over a hero and another one upon selection, further inflating the time spent in menus—an aspect that many find frustrating.
“Unskippable cutscenes are so annoying in this game, pretty much everything else is great,” commented one user. “Don’t forget the obnoxious cinematics after you select a hero,” echoed another.
Another player proposed an effective solution, suggesting that developers should allow players to skip cutscenes with a simple mouse click rather than requiring a space bar press. “It’s such a tiny thing, but it’s one of my biggest annoyances with the game. I wouldn’t mind them coming up every single time I click on a hero if I could just spam-click it away,” they noted.
“This game is splash screen hell. The amount of random stuff I have to click through/watch from the time I click play on Steam to being able to join a match is absurd,” voiced one frustrated player.
For players already experiencing performance issues, the presence of these unskippable animations exacerbates the frustration. As it stands, the community is left waiting for impending updates and patches from the developers that promise to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
