Marvel Rivals experienced a promising launch, quickly becoming a favorite among gamers. However, recent updates have sparked discontent among players regarding some newly introduced missions.
As NetEase’s latest free-to-play 6v6 shooter, Marvel Rivals has made its way into the ranks of Steam’s most-played games. The game features an impressive lineup of beloved characters from the Marvel universe, each equipped with unique abilities. Since its release, many players have eagerly immersed themselves, exploring the full range of gameplay it offers.
One of the immediate attractions for players is the Entangled Moments event. This seasonal event presents a variety of rewards that can be earned by completing certain missions released progressively throughout the game.
Despite the seemingly straightforward nature of these missions, many players have expressed frustration over aspects of their design, particularly highlighted in a Reddit discussion.
Frustrations Over Map-Based Missions in Marvel Rivals
Central to the grievances is the connection between certain missions and specific maps within the game. Players have noted that relying on particular maps can be a significant hurdle in completing these tasks.

This mission structure extends across various character tabs, each tied to different maps. Given that map selection in the game is randomized, players often find it challenging to access the specific maps necessary to complete their objectives.
Even when players do land on the desired map, the outcome may not be guaranteed due to potential teamwork issues. As a result, this randomness can lead to frustration among the community.
One user expressed their frustration, stating, “I hate how this game gives you map-based missions, but the maps are all RNG, and it doesn’t want you to map dodge or else you get a timer. And the Hydra map seems to be EXTREMELY rare. I’ve been trying to get it for hours.”
Another player added, “I swear I will be winning every game, and then I get the Hydra base map, and suddenly, my team has the IQ of a donkey when it sees a carrot, and I can’t win.”
Conversely, some believe that game developers may intentionally design missions to prolong gameplay and enhance player retention. One user commented, “All I got for the last few days was Hydra base, and when missions reset yesterday, I went a full 6 hours without seeing it once.”
Despite the challenges, some users have discovered an alternative approach: completing missions in Practice vs. AI mode, which circumvents the complications posed by unpredictable teammates.
