Marvel Rivals Takes Action Against “Cheating” Players Using Keyboard and Mouse on Consoles

Marvel Rivals is taking decisive action against players who attempt to exploit the game using keyboard and mouse adapters on both consoles and PCs. NetEase, the developer behind the game, has emphatically declared that cheating, modding, and any tactics that disrupt a fair gaming experience are strictly prohibited.

The game’s terms of service explicitly ban any unauthorized third-party software, including bots, cheats, and modifications. In a significant update rolled out in January 2025 as part of Season 1, NetEase introduced asset hash checking, which effectively disabled widely-used mods and curtailed unauthorized changes. Yet, despite robust measures, some players continue to push boundaries by utilizing prohibited modifications.

Just four days following the latest patch, NetEase shifted its focus to address another issue: the use of mouse and keyboard adapters.

Marvel Rivals Classifies Mouse and Keyboard Adapters as “Cheating”

In an official statement regarding the contentious issue of mouse and keyboard adapters, Marvel Rivals firmly defined these devices as tools that offer players an unjust competitive edge. The developers believe that the implementation of such technology disrupts the balance of gameplay, ultimately affecting the experience for all players.

In a recent blog post, the developers stated: “We believe that gaining an unjust advantage through such methods significantly impacts the gaming experience for our players. Therefore, whether on PC or console, we will take measures to vanquish this nefarious behavior.”

Devices like the XIM, Cronus, and Titan Two allow gamers to combine the precision of a mouse with the versatility of a controller. This combination can lead to superior accuracy, enhanced aim assistance, quicker reflexes, and improved control over weapon recoil, giving users a significant advantage in controller-only lobbies.

Although using such adapters is not illegal, the developers of Marvel Rivals have made it clear that they will not tolerate their use within their game environment. These adapters are also capable of functioning on PCs, providing keyboard and mouse users access to aim assist traditionally exclusive to controller players. While the primary enforcement targets console users, the penalties will also extend to PC players who utilize these devices.

Possible repercussions for offenders include account suspensions, removal from leaderboards, and even permanent bans. The message from NetEase is unequivocal: unfair advantages will not be tolerated.

As part of its commitment to maintaining fair play, the future of Marvel Rivals appears bright. With robust enforcement measures in place, NetEase Games aims to cultivate a competitive landscape where player skill—rather than exploitation—dominates.
