Exciting Updates Coming for Storm in Marvel Rivals Season 1
In the upcoming Season 1 update of Marvel Rivals, one of the game’s less favored characters is poised for a significant transformation. This revitalization could position her among the leading contenders within the game’s competitive meta.
Balancing the Roster
The world of Marvel Rivals features a rich array of characters, but not all are created equal in terms of gameplay performance. Since its launch in December, characters like Hela, Hawkeye, and Jeff the Land Shark have consistently outperformed others, pushing them to the sidelines. The first major update aims to rectify this imbalance by delivering a series of buffs and nerfs that breathe life into overlooked characters.
Storm’s Underwhelming Performance
Despite her popularity among fans and her ties to the famed X-Men, Storm has struggled to find her footing in the competitive landscape of Marvel Rivals. With the developers acknowledging her need for improvements in Season 1, early insights from streamers indicate that significant enhancements are on the way for Storm.
Major Buffs Revealed
One prominent YouTuber, known as ‘Marvel Rivals Merchant,’ provided an early look at Storm’s upgraded abilities. In his recent video, he highlights the “massive”buffs she will receive, particularly in her damage capabilities. One of the most notable changes is an increase in her piercing damage against foes aligned in a row, allowing her to simultaneously target multiple enemies with ease.
Perhaps the most transformative enhancement is found in her ability to boost both her and her teammates’ damage and movement speed through her Weather Control ability. This mechanic draws parallels to Lucio from Overwatch, previously yielding minimal benefits during Season 0. However, the changes in Season 1 make these boosts significantly more impactful, as demonstrated by the YouTuber’s gameplay in the practice range.
Stacking Abilities for Greater Damage
Players can amplify Storm’s damage output even further by simultaneously activating Goddess Boost, enhancing her lightning-powered attacks. The synergy between these two abilities turns Ororo Munroe into a formidable opponent on the battlefield.
As the YouTuber noted, “If you change the weather first and do the additional damage boost, it does an insane amount of damage now, and she’s really very powerful now. This is kind of scary, the amount of damage she can do.”
The Road Ahead
With these pivotal updates, it remains to be seen whether Storm will ascend into the ranks of the top-tier characters in Marvel Rivals. Adding another layer of competition is Mister Fantastic, who is also set to join the roster of Duelists this season.
