Marvel Rivals Unveils Beloved Mutant Character After Months of Speculation

NetEase Games has made an exciting announcement regarding an upcoming character for Marvel Rivals, a beloved mutant long speculated by fans.

With the official release of Marvel Rivals just under three months away, the game’s Alpha and Beta playtests have captured the attention of both comic book enthusiasts and PvP shooter fans. During Gamescom 2024, NetEase showcased exclusive gameplay and introduced two new characters, Captain America and Winter Soldier, set to be available at launch.

In the trailer for the Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands map, fans noticed the presence of pink butterflies at the end, sparking speculation about the potential inclusion of Psylocke as a playable character. This theory has been officially confirmed by NetEase, who has revealed that the beloved mutant will indeed be introduced into Marvel Rivals.

During a trivia event held on Marvel Rivals’ official Discord server, fans were invited to answer five questions regarding the new character, focusing on her skills and comic book history.

Participants who answered all five questions correctly received a complimentary GIF in their direct messages, showcasing Psylocke’s character opening animation along with the message: “Congratulations on completing this trivia, and let’s all welcome our new hero: Psylocke!”

Fans expressed their excitement on social media, sharing their thoughts on the character reveal. One fan commented: “This is genuinely the best Psylocke design I’ve ever seen.”

Another remarked: “Looks like they based the design around the Demon Days run. Looks sick!” A third added: “They really leaned into the whole Ninja thing! I LOVE IT!!”

While the official move-set and abilities for Psylocke are yet to be disclosed, the trivia confirmed that her sword will play a significant role in her attacking capabilities within the game. It appears that Psylocke will likely excel in the Duelist class, given her teleportation powers and swift movement skills rooted in Marvel lore, rather than fitting into the Strategist or Vanguard classes.
