Marvel vs. Capcom Fans Outraged Over Xbox Exclusion in Fighting Collection

Fans of Marvel vs. Capcom expressed their frustration when it was revealed that the highly anticipated ports will not be available on Xbox consoles.

The announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics at the Nintendo Direct on June 18, 2024 left fans of the crossover fighting series in shock.

The announcement of the return of a long-awaited game has sparked a lot of enthusiasm, but it has also caused frustration among players after learning that Marvel vs. Capcom will only be available on Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, leaving out Xbox entirely.

The backlash over the omission was immediate, as a Reddit user expressed disappointment, stating that it was “a huge blow”that the game would not be available on Xbox. This sentiment was widely shared on social media.

MightyKeef, a popular YouTuber, expressed his disappointment with Microsoft’s decision to not release the game on their platforms. He also questioned Capcom’s reasoning behind skipping these platforms, as he believes the game will be in high demand and sell well.

According to another Twitter/X user, the excitement for the return of Marvel vs. Capcom was dampened by the absence of an Xbox release. The user expressed their disappointment, stating that “A game like Marvel vs. Capcom should be available on all platforms.”

It is especially disappointing for fans that there is no Xbox version available, especially considering that previous Marvel vs. Capcom games have all been released on Microsoft’s hardware, as many have pointed out.

Capcom has chosen not to provide an explanation for why the Marvel vs. Capcom collection will not be available for Xbox. When questioned about the matter by IGN, the company declined to comment. The situation becomes even more perplexing as Capcom recently revealed an Ace Attorney collection for Xbox One during the same Nintendo Direct.

This has caused speculation among fans that it may be related to Capcom’s MT Framework game engine, which appears to be the common denominator among many (if not all) recent Capcom releases that have not been available on Xbox.

It is possible that the engine is no longer compatible with Xbox One, as the MT Framework was originally designed for the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 era and has since been mostly replaced by the newer RE Engine, which was initially developed for Resident Evil 7.

Despite this, Xbox users are outraged with Capcom and demanding a solution to be able to finally experience the highly anticipated Marvel vs. Capcom, even though the developers have yet to find one.
