Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics – All You Need to Know

After a period of absence, the Capcom fighting games that include Marvel characters will be releasing on current platforms. But what should fans anticipate from the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics?

Despite the extra licensing involved, Capcom has always been willing to bring its classic games to modern systems. However, this is not always possible for games involving Marvel heroes and villains, as the licensing can result in temporary remasters that are eventually removed from online storefronts.

It appears that the legal barriers that previously delayed the remasters of Marvel and Capcom games have been resolved. This was confirmed by the announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics during the Nintendo Direct on June 18, 2024. This exciting news means that a plethora of beloved arcade titles will be making a comeback.

The upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics will include the following games:

  • X-Men: Children of the Atom
  • Marvel Super Heroes
  • X-Men vs. Street Fighter
  • Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
  • Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes

The reason why the Punisher stands out is because it is designed as a beat ’em up, similar to Final Fight, instead of a comprehensive fighting game.

We will keep this article current with any additional trailers that are released.

New features and modes in Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics will offer online play for all of its games, including both co-op and competitive modes. To ensure a seamless and efficient experience, the collection will utilize rollback netcode, which will benefit those with slower Internet connections.

The available online modes consist of Casual Matches, Ranked Matches, and Custom Matches, the latter of which allows you to customize the rules. This feature will hopefully enable you to ban Cable in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. It is important to note that Crossplay is not an option in this game.

The only exception is The Punisher, which features exclusively online co-op due to its nature as a beat ’em up game.

The collection of fighting games will feature a High Score Challenge, a Training Mode with advanced options, arcade marquees, old display filters, the ability to pause and retry in arcade mode, and new unlockable challenges.

Similar to Street Fighter 6, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics also offers additional difficulty settings catered towards novice players. These include the ability to assign Special moves to a single button and adjust the level of challenge.

In the Gallery and Sound mode, you have access to the concept and official artwork for every game, as well as the ability to play all of the tracks featured in each game.

It should be noted that certain games in the collection have undergone visual alterations, mostly in order to eliminate the flashing effects that were present in more daring attacks.
