Marvel Zombies is set to return to life and make its debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
As a spin-off from the animated series What If…?, the development of Marvel Zombies has fans filled with anticipation.
This new series coming to Disney+ promises to be bloody and intense, offering a distinct experience that diverges from typical MCU offerings—excluding What If…?, of course.
Although much of the project’s specifics remain under wraps, a recently released teaser trailer and confirmed release timeframe have fans buzzing about this new Marvel venture.
Here’s a comprehensive overview of what we know about Marvel Zombies as of now.
Release Window for Marvel Zombies
Marvel Zombies is scheduled to premiere in October 2025.
This timeframe was officially announced in October 2024, with the precise launch date still awaited.
This series will mark a first for Marvel, carrying a TV-MA rating, and will be their shortest series to date, featuring only four episodes.
Trailer for Marvel Zombies
While a full trailer has yet to be unveiled, a brief teaser has been released as part of Marvel’s promotional efforts for their upcoming television lineup.
The teaser was showcased on Disney+ prior to the finale of Agatha All Along. Although it’s just a short sequence, viewers can catch a glimpse below:

Marvel Zombies Cast
Currently, the only confirmed cast member of Marvel Zombies is Iman Vellani portraying Ms. Marvel, but it is widely believed that several familiar live-action characters will be reprising their roles.
Among the rumored participants are Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and David Harbour as Red Guardian (though it’s not confirmed if they will lend their voices to the characters).
The series will likely encompass all the characters from the Zombie episode of What If…?, alongside new faces, including:
Zombies
- Captain America (voiced possibly by Chris Evans or Hudson Thames)
- Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner)
- Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen)
- Captain Marvel (Brie Larson)
- Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen)
- The Abomination (Tim Roth)
- Icarus (Richard Madden)
Survivors
- Ant-Man (Paul Rudd)
- Spider-Man (voiced either by Tom Holland or Josh Keaton)
- Black Panther (voicing details currently unconfirmed)
- Shang-Chi (Simu Liu)
- Katy Chen (Awkwafina)
- Death Dealer (Ande Le)
- Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld)
- Jimmy Woo (Randall Park)
- Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh)
- Red Guardian (David Harbour)
- Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani)
Zeb Wells will take on the role of head writer and executive producer for Marvel Zombies, with Bryan Andrews—who directed the Zombies episode of What If…?—assigned as director.
According to Iman Vellani, the narrative will center on Kamala/Ms. Marvel, stating [via The Direct]: “They described it to me, it’s like, ‘She’s basically the Frodo of the story.’ And I was like, ‘That’s amazing.’…I get to interact and meet all these people along her journey.
“And while yes, they’re only providing their voices and I won’t hear them in real time, it’s still my fantasy, right? Knowing Kamala is going to engage with some really cool characters, even in animated form, is incredibly special in many ways.
Plot of Marvel Zombies: What to Expect
As of now, there’s no official synopsis for the plot of Marvel Zombies. However, it will undoubtedly draw inspiration from the events depicted in the What If…? zombie episode, as well as the comic series of the same name.
The comics unfold a devastated version of the MCU, where a Quantum Virus has transformed the majority of the superheroes into zombies.
The What If…? Zombies!? episode concluded on a cliffhanger, with the remaining survivors making their way to Wakanda in hopes of creating a cure with the Mind Stone. However, Zombie Thanos was lurking there, ready to confront them.
It appears that the new series will continue from that narrative, setting the stage for an epic showdown with zombies.
