Mashin Sozoden Wataru Anime Announces January 2025 Premiere and More with PV and Visual

On Thursday, August 29, 2024, the official staff released a promotional video and visual to confirm that the premiere of the new Mashin Sozoden Wataru anime will take place in Winter 2025, specifically in January. Along with this announcement, they also revealed details about the show’s main staff and cast members.

Mashin Sozoden Wataru is a spin-off of the Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru franchise. The anime was officially approved by the staff during the franchise’s 35th Thanksgiving event in January 2024.

The first anime series created by Studio Sunrise was first broadcast in 1988 and consisted of 45 episodes. This was then followed by a second installment, which aired 46 episodes from 1990 to 1991. In addition, a remake of the franchise was released, consisting of 51 episodes that aired from October 1997 to September 1998.

On Thursday, August 29, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) handle for the upcoming Mashin Sozoden Wataru anime released a new promotional video and visual. The announcement confirmed that the show will be released in January 2025. The mecha anime is set to premiere on six TV Tokyo-affiliated channels in Japan according to the announcement.

The most recent preview for the Mashin Sozoden Wataru anime features Wataru Hoshibe, also known as the Ryutuber, battling against malevolent forces in a parallel universe filled with floating blocks. Utilizing his mecha, Ryujinmaru, he expertly defeats his adversaries.

Additionally, in the promotional video, Kakeru Amabe, Ofurain, Maro, and other characters are featured alongside Hoshibe. Similarly, the teaser visual showcases important characters including Hoshibe, Kakeru, Maro, Ryunyun, Uzume, Ofurain, and others from the anime.

Information about the primary actors has been revealed. Hoshibe Wataru is portrayed by Mutsumi Tamura, and Kakeru Amabe is played by Atsumi Tanezaki. Maro is voiced by Megu Umezawa, and RyunRyun is played by Rie Kugimiya.

In addition to Katsuyuki Konishi as Ofurain and Tomokazu Sugita as Ryunjinmaru, the anime’s official staff also revealed visuals for other Mashin characters such as Kirinmaru, Tenshomaru, Fujinmaru, Jugomaru, and Ryujinmaru.

Yumi Kamakura is the director of the series at Bandai Namco Pictures, while Yoichi Kato oversees the scripts. The character designs are led by Yoshinori Yumoto and Mayuko Nakano. The production of the show is managed by Bandai Namco Filmworks and TV Tokyo.

Kyoryu Kuramo and Studio GS have been recruited to work on the design of the Mashin, with Masami Hayashi and Norifumi Nakamura serving as the art directors. Akiko Shibata is responsible for the color design, while Shinpei Nagashima takes on the role of CG director. Naoki Watanabe serves as the editor, and Sadayoshi Fujino is in charge of sound direction.

It was announced by the staff that the upcoming Mashin Sozoden Wataru anime will be accompanied by a manga adaptation, with serialization set to begin on December 13, 2024 in Shogakukan’s Monthly CoroCoro Comic.

The plot of the mecha anime centers on Hoshibe Wataru, who sets out on a quest to defend the world of Sokaizan. After discovering that the powers of Ryujinmaru are sealed in this alternate dimension, Wataru and his companions embark on a new adventure to confront the forces of evil.
