Just like in our world, ores play a crucial role in the world of Once Human. In fact, they may even be more important here. The mining of ores typically begins after defeating the first Monolith Boss. The first type of ore you will encounter is the versatile and widely used Iron Ore.
Where to find Iron Ore in Once Human
In Once Human, the Iron River beginner region is home to scattered Iron Ore deposits. Mining Iron Ore requires crafting a Bronze Pickaxe, which can be unlocked through the Memetics Menu. This step is mandatory for accessing Iron Ore.
Although the world of Once Human is full of excitement, mining remains a difficult task. As you progress through the game, you will come to understand the crucial role of Iron Ore.
At that moment, it is crucial to be fully equipped for mining. The Bronze Pickaxe will be your trusty companion during this time. You can utilize your Meme points to unlock Smelting Essentials, Bronze Crafting, and Bronze Pickaxes.
Iron River is a location best suited for experienced gamers. It is recommended to be at least level 20 before exploring the area and searching for ore deposits to mine. Additionally, players must first complete a specific part of the main story before being able to obtain the Bronze Pickaxe.
2. How to craft a Bronze Pickaxe?
To gain access to the Bronze Pickaxe, you must first enhance the corresponding Memetics. Utilize your Meme points and navigate to the Memetics Tab to unlock the following upgrades-
- Smelting Essentials (gets you started)
- Copper Pickaxe (because there’s always a trainee level)
- Bronze Crafting (to utilize Bronze that you obtain)
- Bronze Pickaxe (our trusty mining buddy)
To craft a Bronze Pickaxe at the Supplies Workbench in your Base, you must have unlocked all necessary materials. These include-
- 7 Bronze Ingots
- 5 Logs
- 1 Raw Hide
Locating Iron Ore Deposits
The name Iron River likely originated from the abundant Iron Ore deposits in the surrounding area. The connection between Ore and this location is evident, as it is conveniently located near the beginner area and easily accessible.
To begin, prepare the newly crafted Bronze Pickaxe and hop on your motorbike (if you don’t have one yet, acquire one – they’re pretty awesome). Make your way to the northern area of the Dayton Wetlands.
In this area, it is not difficult to notice large pieces of stone resembling shattered boulders. Their hue is a distinct amber rusty-gray, indicating that they are Iron Ores.
To embark on your epic journey as a miner, simply head to the stone and begin extracting with your Bronze Pickaxe. The area is abundant in these Ores, ensuring that you will have all the necessary resources and more.
4. Tips for the Miners
Is the Iron River region the only location with a high concentration of iron ore deposits in the world of Once Human? No, it certainly has the highest concentration, but it is not the only place where you can find iron ore. There are other locations where you can collect this valuable resource.
These places have a higher level of elevation compared to others. In addition, they offer a variety of Ores including commonly found Aluminium and Tungsten, as well as the more rare Gold.
The areas are as follows:
- Chalk Peak
- Black Fell
- Red Sands
It is important to be cautious while in these areas during the early levels of the game, which is likely the case if you are currently mining Iron Ore. These areas typically require levels ranging from 25-30 or even higher. It is advisable to navigate this region with caution. However, if you are able to be stealthy, there are numerous Iron deposits waiting to be discovered.
Don’t forget to stock up on consumables in order to restore your health. It’s recommended to also have a sniper on hand to take out enemies from a distance, especially if you’re not the strongest. It’s always a good idea to have a nearby camp set up, otherwise you’ll have to travel a considerable distance to return to one.
Despite the recommended levels ranging from 25-30 in these areas, even if you find yourself below the recommended level for Iron River at 20, such as at level 18, you can still successfully navigate these challenging areas with some skill and caution.
