Matt Walsh Criticized for Ridiculing Adults Who Take Sick Days

Right-wing podcaster Matt Walsh is facing backlash from his audience after he openly criticized individuals who take sick leave.

Although some of Walsh’s most ardent supporters backed him following the lackluster reception of his documentary Am I Racist by mainstream media, they are now expressing their disapproval of his recent controversial stance on workplace illness.

In a September 17 episode of The Matt Walsh Show, the host launched into a brief tirade about why adults should feel ashamed for taking sick days.

“I know this is unpopular, but sick days are for children. They’re for kids in school who are trying to stay home so they don’t have to take a test that day,” Walsh stated. “With rare exceptions, taking a sick day as an adult should be pretty embarrassing for you.”

He further commented, “Calling your boss and saying, ‘Sorry, I can’t come in today my tummy hurts,’ is humiliating. You need to be at work. Adults don’t have time to be sick.”

Walsh shared personal anecdotes about how he carried on with the production of his podcast, even when he was feeling unwell.

He revealed that after losing his voice due to illness, he still went into his studio and recorded an episode using subtitles.

Unfortunately for Walsh, his provocative opinion was met with criticism from his online audience, many of whom have openly condemned his viewpoint.

“Yeah Matt, the backbone you showed powering through that podcast serves as an example to us all…” one user wrote on X/Twitter.

Another commentator noted, “A guy who podcasts for a living thinks you shouldn’t use your sick days. Corporate simp.”

A third viewer mocked Walsh’s stance, saying, “Exactly, don’t let a life-threatening illness stop you from making your boss wealthier. Who cares if you are contagious? Get in there and work!”
