Tokitara Anime Officially Announced for a 2025 Release Window

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, the creators of Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara officially announced that the highly anticipated anime would be released in 2025. Along with this announcement, they also unveiled a special promotional video, a teaser visual for the series, and the main cast for the anime production.

Furthermore, the creator of the original manga, which will serve as the basis for the upcoming anime Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara, has also created a special illustration in honor of the anime’s announcement. While the director of the anime has been confirmed, the details regarding the animation studio and other staff have not yet been disclosed at the time of writing this article.

Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara Anime Announces 2025 Release Window, Main Cast, and Director

As previously stated, the announcement for the Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara anime production also revealed important details about the show. This includes the main cast, with Junichi Suwabe taking on the role of Keiichiro Nagumo. Keiichiro is an experienced detective who runs his own agency and was once a renowned high school detective. However, his workload has decreased as he struggles to adapt to the evolving methods of crime-solving.

Joining Suwabe is Kana Hanazawa, who will play the role of Mashiro, a lively high school student with aspirations of becoming a detective. She ultimately becomes Keiichiro’s assistant. Her impressive memory and physical fitness are highlighted, and although the rest of the staff and animation studio have yet to be announced, it has been confirmed that Rion Kujo will serve as the director for the anime.

The focus of the story is on Nagumo, once renowned for his ability to quickly solve cases as a high school detective. However, after more than 10 years, he is now seen as an outdated and ineffective detective, struggling to adapt to the modern world. As a result, he is receiving fewer cases. However, everything changes when he meets Mashiro and they begin living together. Through their daily interactions, both Nagumo and Mashiro undergo a transformation, becoming new and improved versions of themselves.

The anime adaptation of the Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara series will be based on the original seinen manga by author and illustrator Masakuni Igarashi. The manga was first serialized in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Maoh magazine in April 2016 and is still ongoing. Currently, there are 14 compiled volumes, with the 15th volume set to release in August 2024. As of now, none of the 14 volumes have been translated into English.

It’s important to mention that Suwabe and Hanazawa will be reprising their roles from the vomics for the original manga series. This could potentially provide insight into the next characters to be revealed. If this trend continues, we may see Chado Horii as Cerberus and Kengo Kawanishi as Taro Nezu. However, at the time of writing this article, this remains purely speculative.
