It appears that Max Holloway will face Ilia Topuria in his next Octagon appearance following an impressive performance at UFC 300.

On April 13, Holloway achieved a remarkable victory in MMA history by delivering a knockout blow to Justin Gaethje in the final second of their five-round lightweight bout.

As the No. 14 pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC, he entered the fight with a strong chance for a rise in the rankings. Despite being the former unified featherweight champion and currently ranked No. 2 in the division, he faces another challenge against Ilia Topuria, the current title holder and No. 5 ranked fighter in the promotion.

Who is Max Holloway’s upcoming opponent?

Ilia Topuria is the most probable opponent for Max Holloway’s next fight.

After his victory over Gaethje, Holloway directly challenged Topuria in his post-fight interview, stating: “I am him. I am him, guys. There’s a matador, and he’s evading a bull at 145. Tell him to sign the contract already. Spain, Hawaii, anywhere.”

After the event, Topuria had a conversation with ESPN where he offered his congratulations to the victorious Hawaii native. However, the Spaniard reminded the new “Baddest Motherf*****”title holder to stay in line, stating, “For me, it is clear that my next opponent will be Max Holloway.”

“Congratulations and have a good evening, but once he has battled against me, he will need to return to the end of the line.”

Despite being one of the few undefeated fighters in the promotion, the UFC featherweight champion presents a significant challenge for Holloway. With a record of 15-0, he is a formidable opponent.

When is Max Holloway’s next bout scheduled for?

The date for the Holloway vs Topuria fight has not yet been confirmed.

Topuria has announced that Holloway is his expected next opponent, although UFC president Dana White has not yet officially confirmed the fight.

During the post-UFC 300 press conference, White did not address the fight, however Holloway retaliated to Topuria’s remarks by implying that the champion still has unresolved doubts to address.

“He shrugged and responded, “That’s great. What are you expecting me to say? If he ends up at the back of the line, Ilia can handle it, but we have many inquiries. If the fight is confirmed, we will definitely seek clarification.”

What is Max Holloway’s MMA Record and Achievements?

Holloway has a record of 26 wins and 7 losses in his mixed martial arts career.

The traditional striker is credited with 12 knockouts, two submissions, and 12 victories by decision.

The 5-foot-11 fighter achieved a record of 4-0 at the beginning of his MMA career, but he suffered a defeat in his UFC debut against Dustin Poirier at UFC 143, where he was submitted via a triangle armbar.

Despite experiencing his third defeat to Conor McGregor in just his tenth fight, Holloway bounced back and went on an impressive 13-fight winning streak that spanned nearly five years. This impressive run ultimately led to him being crowned as the UFC featherweight champion.

Despite his efforts to retain the world title, he has lost to Alexander Volkanovski twice since losing the belt to him in 2019.
