Maximizing Species Limit in Hogwarts Legacy: A Complete Guide

As you befriend many charming creatures throughout the wizarding world, you might encounter the species limit for beasts in your Vivariums.

How to Raise the Species Limit in Hogwarts Legacy

Unfortunately, you cannot expand the species limit within Vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy. However, you can acquire additional Vivariums, enabling you to tame and capture more beast species.

In Hogwarts Legacy, Vivariums serve as locations accessible through The Room of Requirement, where players can store a restricted number of beast species. Below is a detailed overview of Vivariums and creature capacity:

  • You can own up to four distinct Vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy.
  • Each Vivarium can hold 12 unique creatures or beasts.
  • This equates to a total of 48 different creatures you can house simultaneously in Hogwarts Legacy.
  • Each Vivarium can only accommodate four distinct species!
    • For example, if you have a Phoenix, Niffler, Fwooper, and Puffskein, you can only fill any remaining spaces with duplicates of those already housed in the Vivarium.

Currently, this limit cannot be altered, but there may be potential for expansion through future DLC. Be sure to let the developers know if you’re interested in an increased species limit in Hogwarts Legacy!

While you cannot technically upgrade your Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy, you can indeed acquire up to four Vivariums in total.

How to Unlock Additional Vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy

Unlocking more Vivariums is the sole method to enhance your species limit in Hogwarts Legacy. More Vivariums equal more slots for housing creatures.

While the main story will guide you to your initial Vivarium, completing additional side quests is necessary to unlock the remaining three Vivariums:

Vivarium Required Quest Completion
Default Vivarium The Elf, the Nab-sack, and the Loom
Coastal Vivarium The Plight of the House-Elf

Meadow Vivarium Phoenix Rising

Filling up these Vivariums will bring you to the species limit. However, if you find yourself with extra species, you can opt to sell unwanted beasts as well.

How to Sell Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy

Selling your extra species at Brood and Peck can yield a quick profit and provides a solid way to boost your finances if you’re in need of cash. Each beast can be sold for 120 Gold Galleons. You may also utilize breeding pens within your Vivariums to continually expand your species selection while ensuring a steady cash flow.

This way, you can reserve your Vivarium slots for only the rarest creatures, should you desire.
