Popular streamer Maya Higa expressed her heartfelt emotions upon discovering that Twitch had generously donated $100,000 to her animal sanctuary, Alveus.

Maya is a well-known Twitch streamer who shares a variety of content, particularly highlighting her work at the Alveus animal sanctuary, an organization she established and manages.

Her dedication to animal rehabilitation and conservation is evident, as she educates audiences about wildlife through her Animal Quest video series and collaborative streams with other prominent creators.

Twitch acknowledged Maya’s commitment to Alveus and aimed to support her efforts significantly. On September 20 at TwitchCon San Diego, Maya took the stage to help co-host the event when her partner made an unexpected announcement.

“We’re incredibly proud of your efforts, and Twitch wants to assist you in expanding your sanctuary,” the co-host mentioned. “Twitch will be donating $100,000 to Alveus Sanctuary.”

Maya was stunned by the news, embracing her co-host while struggling to suppress tears of gratitude as she thanked Twitch for their generosity.

“They kept this a secret from me,” she remarked with laughter. “I had no idea they were doing that. Oh my god. That was amazing. Thank you so much. …We wouldn’t have this organization without Twitch. I built it on Twitch. …I’m incredibly thankful.”

Maya later expressed her gratitude to Twitch on Twitter, humorously stating that she’d be “crying for the next five business days.”
