McDonald’s Iconic Grimace Shake Returns with a Catch

McDonald’s Grimace Shake dominated social media after commemorating the famous creature’s birthday in 2023. And now, Grimace has returned with a twist.

The internet sensation, known as the purple monster, gained popularity after McDonald’s launched a special ‘Grimace birthday meal’ for his supposed birthday on June 12.

During Grimace’s reign, the fast-food chain took advantage of the monster’s popularity by collaborating with various brands and creating merchandise such as “ugly”Christmas sweaters and a Game Boy Color-style game, all while maintaining its deep lore and incorporating filthy memes.

Almost a year has passed and Grimace has made a comeback, or more specifically, the Grimace shake has returned. McDonald’s took to Instagram to announce that Grimace had returned, sharing a playful post featuring the monster’s passport and a spooky video.

Despite the high anticipation for Grimace’s mystery drink, there is one condition. The shake will only be available for launch in Canada.

The Canadian X account for McDonald’s (previously known as Twitter) has already made arrangements to greet the purple monster, as seen in their comical cover photo featuring a billboard adorned with Grimace.

“If you happen to be reading this, Grimace, please come back. We all miss you,”reads the account’s biography. The profile picture, now with a light purple background, still showcases the iconic golden arches but with a silhouette of Grimace added to it.

Alyssa Buetikofer, the Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s Canada, expressed that when the Grimace Shake was introduced in the United States, it received an overwhelming response from Canadian fans. The level of creativity and enthusiasm shown by these fans inspired the decision to add the Grimace Shake to menus in Canada.

This indicates that American fans will have to obtain their passports (similar to Grimace) and plan a trip, as the shake will be available at select McDonald’s restaurants in Canada starting May 14. However, it is important to secure your tickets quickly as the purple shake will only be offered for a limited period.
