McDonald’s Popular Collector Cups Already Reselling for Hundreds

The collectible plastic cups that are included with McDonald’s Collector’s Meals are already being resold for hundreds of dollars, only a week after their initial release.

On August 13, 2024, McDonald’s will launch its latest Collector’s Meal, which includes six unique plastic drinking cups highlighting the brand’s numerous collaborations throughout its history.

The cups feature a variety of designs from popular brands such as Barbie, Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies, Coca-Cola, Hello Kitty, Peanuts, Shrek, Jurassic Park, Minions, and many others. Some of these cups showcase multiple brands on the same cup, with unique designs on each side.

Each meal costs approximately $11 USD, resulting in a total value of approximately $66 for a complete set of the popular collector’s cups. However, resellers are already selling the highly sought-after items at high prices.

As of the current time, the most expensive set of McDonald’s Collector’s Edition cups sold for $228.50, with an additional $15 for shipping.

In addition, there are a few sets that were sold for slightly lower prices, typically around $150. However, this is still approximately double the cost of purchasing them directly from McDonald’s.

Despite not being the most expensive listings, sellers somehow manage to acquire full cases containing 100 of the popular cups.

On August 15, 2024, a listing for a case of Collector’s meals was sold for $1,500 with an additional $25 for shipping. To put this in perspective, purchasing 300 of these meals with cups would cost over $3,000. Interestingly, on the same day, another case was sold at a more affordable price of $500, which is actually less expensive than buying them with a meal.

It is not just the nostalgic designs that are drawing fans to McDonald’s for the popular cups. Following the launch, a TikToker uncovered a hidden feature that has also contributed to the cups’ popularity.

Upon pouring her drink into the cup, she realized that McDonald’s lids were compatible with it. This grabbed the attention of Coca Cola, who responded: “Brb testing this immediately.”
