McDonald’s has unveiled an exciting new collection of Happy Meal toys, showcasing beloved characters from the popular game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Since its debut in 1979, the Happy Meal has been a delightful offering for kids, featuring toys linked to trending brands of that time.
McDonald’s has previously teamed up with a diverse range of franchises like Hello Kitty, Yu-Gi-Oh, and even launched adult-oriented Happy Meals that took social media by storm; now, this latest toy series continues that tradition.
Launched on Halloween, October 31, the new Happy Meal toys highlight iconic figures from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Guillaume Huin, McDonald’s social media manager, shared the collaboration on his X account, announcing a total of ten collectible Mario Kart characters that fans can enjoy.
This release includes fan-favorites such as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Bowser, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong.
“Each Mario Kart Happy Meal toy will be packaged in an adorable exclusive box,” he noted, adding, “We also have two unique figures: Gold Mario and Pink Peach, which are completely new to this collection!”

Excited fans quickly took to the comments of his tweet to express their enthusiasm. Despite the Halloween release not aligning perfectly with the theme, gamers eagerly anticipate collecting these toys.
“I definitely need to grab one for my ‘kid’,” one enthusiastic user wrote.
Another chimed in with excitement: “I’m unbeatable as Peach in karting… let’s go!”
The Mario Kart Happy Meal toys being introduced in boxes marks a significant shift for McDonald’s in the United States, reminiscent of the earlier release of the Hello Kitty x Yu-Gi-Oh collaboration in Belgium. When it was introduced in the US, the toys transitioned from boxes to plastic bags, much to the dismay of collectors.
This fresh launch of Mario Kart toys will replace the traditional Boo Baskets that were previously used to celebrate Halloween. While those were made available in September, fans expressed disappointment over the design changes made for the 2024 release.
