In Episode 6 of Agatha All Along, viewers are introduced to Wiccan’s origins, shedding light on how Billy Kaplan discovered the path of a witch—and in a pivotal moment, he hears the phrase, “The tower reversed.”
Following the conclusion of Episode 5, this Marvel narrative confirmed what fans have long suspected: “Teen”is indeed Billy Kaplan, known as Wiccan, who is the reborn child of the Scarlet Witch.
This revelation is significant, suggesting major implications for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU); if Wanda’s son is alive, it follows that his brother Tommy, also known as Speed, could still exist, potentially leading to a resurgence of the Avengers.
The initial scenes in Episode 6 unfold concurrently with WandaVision, depicting Billy’s crucial meeting with Lilia Calderu, a member of Agatha’s new witch coven. During their encounter, she proclaims that “the tower reversed” —and if you’re unsure of its meaning (I certainly was), let me clarify that for you.
Understanding “The Tower Reversed”
When Billy approaches Lilia for a palm reading, she foresees a “long journey” filled with “transformation… your lifeline is broken in two” (she also glimpses a future version of him in her crystal ball).
At this point, Lilia utters “the tower reversed,” and while Tarot cards aren’t present at her workspace, this statement carries a critical significance for Billy: impending change looms in his life.
Not long after, chaos erupts at his bar mitzvah due to the “Westview Anomaly.” During his parents’ drive, they unintentionally veer off the road and crash into a tree, leading to Billy’s near-instantaneous death. Upon witnessing this, he awakens to find himself possessed by Wanda’s son’s essence.
Six promotional Tarot cards were unveiled for Agatha All Along, including a Tower card.
This aligns with Labryinthos’ interpretation of the reversed Tower card: “When the Tower card is reversed, you may sense an impending crisis approaching, leading to a struggle to prevent it from unfolding,” it states.
“You might fail to see that such breakdowns can actually serve a purpose in dismantling your dependency on illusions. The tower is constructed on unstable ground and must collapse. While the disruption will be challenging, the resulting humility can foster peace.”
A reversed Tower card indicates a resistance to change (potentially explaining Wiccan’s difficulty in accessing his memories and controlling his powers), while an upright Tower denotes “radical” and “significant” transformation.
“The Tower Reversed” as a Hint for the Witch Trial
Beyond its connection to Wiccan’s path in Agatha All Along, many fans speculate that “the tower reversed” foreshadows the outcome of the upcoming Tower trial in the series.
In the midseason teaser, quick glimpses of Lilia amidst the Salem Seven and floating swords are shown, culminating in a scene where Lilia appears to fall through a dark void.

“Lilia is predicting her own end. During the trial, she alters gravity in the tower and she and the Salem Seven ascend toward the ceiling with the swords,” one viewer predicted.
Another viewer added, “The phrase ‘the tower reversed’ clearly pertains to THAT moment (though I can’t pinpoint it exactly, but you’ve seen that part in trailers where Lilia is encircled by the Salem Seven that seems almost like flight).”
Additionally, prior to the debut of Agatha All Along, Marvel showcased six promotional Tarot cards, which featured a Tower card that incorporated two noteworthy elements: the crown of Wiccan perched at the top, and the same symbol Lilia inscribed on Billy’s sigil placed at the bottom right.
Could “The Tower Reversed” Indicate Wanda is Alive?
Another fan theory suggests that “the tower reversed” might reference Wanda’s apparent demise in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In the film, she seems to be crushed under the debris of Mount Wundagore, particularly its towering structure.
Towards the film’s conclusion, America Chavez teleports Wanda to Earth-838, where she confronts Billy and Tommy, who express fear toward her. Distressed by their terror, she collapses Mount Wundagore and sacrifices herself to destroy the Darkhold.
Yet, if the tower has been “reversed,” could it suggest that Wanda has survived? The truth is uncertain, but this theory has sparked renewed optimism among fans.
One user suggested, “Lilia’s ‘the tower reversed’ implies the tower that harmed Wanda has reverted, indicating that she is ALIVE.” Another user wrote, “When Billy spoke with Lilia and she mentioned ‘the tower reversed,’ I suspect it refers to Wanda reversing her actions at Wundagore. When Billy claims he can ‘Sense Tommy but can’t find him,’ I believe he might actually be sensing Wanda.”
“When getting his palm read, she indicated ‘the tower reversed’—maybe I’m overreaching, but I’m hopeful she refers to the tower that injured Wanda,” a third user commented.
