Mercy mains rejoice as Overwatch 2 devs finally buff support hero after years of nerfs

Blizzard has made the decision to give Mercy some buffs for Season 12. Despite also receiving a minor nerf, she remains a crucial hero in the developing meta, bringing joy to support players.

The patch notes for Season 12 of Overwatch 2 were revealed on August 20, coinciding with the launch of the season. These notes included a number of updates and alterations to game modes and heroes. Surprisingly, Mercy was among those listed, and she will be receiving buffs to both her heal and damage boost beams.

The updates made to Mercy in Season 12 primarily centered around her Caduceus Staff. The Primary Fire healing for this Support hero was raised from 55 to 60 health per second, and the damage boost for the Secondary fire was increased from 25% to 30%.

Despite a decrease in her base health from 250 to 225, Mercy players are rejoicing at the two significant buffs she received. These changes have made her much more viable after several lackluster seasons.

Despite the fact that Mercy’s health was reduced to 225 HP along with several other heroes, her damage boost was simultaneously increased. This buff may not seem significant, but given the strength of Mercy’s movement, the decrease in health will not affect her nearly as much as it would someone like Hanzo.

For quite some time now, support players who have a love for this hero have been facing difficulties. Recently, an update in February caused Mercy mains to shed tears due to the nerfs to her pistol. Additionally, one year ago, the Season 6 patch notes also brought about more nerfs for her, and the same issue occurred back in Season 3.

In Season 12, nine seasons have passed since the Season 3 nerfs, and finally Mercy mains have a renewed motivation to play as her. This sentiment has been expressed through numerous online posts, including one player who enthusiastically shared their excitement for the changes, exclaiming “today is a good day”and extending gratitude towards Blizzard.

Despite the Support hero Mercy not receiving the exact buffs they would have chosen, Skiesti, a content creator and dedicated Mercy player, was still pleased with the changes.

Players of Overwatch 2 can now be relieved as Mercy is able to heal allies at a quicker rate, assist in damaging enemies from a distance, and maintain her exceptional maneuverability through her evasive Guardian Angel capability.

In addition to buffs, supporters of this hero have the opportunity to obtain a Bee Mercy skin by subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Furthermore, they should acknowledge the fact that more than 500,000 cheaters have been removed from the game.
