Meta Destiny 2 Exotic’s New S-Tier Catalyst Boosts Its Power Even Further

With the addition of a potent new Catalyst, Destiny 2’s The Final Shape has only further enhanced its already top-of-the-line Exotic weapon, making it even more formidable in the game’s meta.

Destiny’s latest expansion not only offers a thrilling narrative conclusion, but also introduces innovative activities such as Overthrow, as well as a variety of new Exotic weapons and armor. Additionally, players may have noticed the quiet addition of a Catalyst for Final Warning – String Theory.

When equipped to Final Warning, String Theory offers the following advantages: “Attacks on marked enemies deal more damage and may also replenish ammo in the magazine.”

Although it went unnoticed at first, the addition of the Catalyst to the Exotic Sidearm has now caught the attention of the Destiny community. In a breakdown video uploaded on June 19, popular content creator Aztecross praised the weapon’s Strand Catalyst.

Aztecross opened, thoroughly impressed by String Theory. We had high expectations for this weapon, but none of us were prepared for an Exotic Catalyst. So here we are, looking at an already S-Tier weapon that has now been elevated to S-Tier with this incredible addition.

Aztecross revealed the impressive qualities of Final Warning’s Catalyst, stating that “[String Theory] is an Exotic Catalyst with stacked perks. Bungie has enhanced an already top-tier weapon, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it also increases the weapon’s damage output, which is unexpected for a Catalyst on an Exotic Weapon as powerful as Final Warning.”

Upon comparison with Shayotet Partisan, also known as Carl, Aztecross discovered that prior to The Final Shape, Final Warning caused 4,520 damage per shot or 10,562 on precision hits. However, with the addition of the Strand Sidearm’s Catalyst, it now deals 4,746 damage per shot or 11,090 on precision hits.

This results in a 5% increase in damage for all attacks while Pick Your Poison is in effect. Though it may seem insignificant, Final Warning already packs a powerful punch. Even minor buffs can greatly impact the overall damage output when the base damage is already substantial. Additionally, this boost is even more substantial against regular enemies, with Red Bars receiving a 10% increase in damage.

The updated Catalyst also includes a secondary benefit of returning ammo after successfully hitting a target. While not as potent as other perks such as Rewind Rounds, this enhancement contributes to Final Warning’s overall consistency.

Although the new Catalyst for Final Warning is amazing, it may prove challenging to obtain. The Strand Sidearm’s Catalyst can only be obtained as a drop from ritual activities. Depending on luck, String Theory may be acquired on the first attempt of The Final Shape, or it could require many runs.
