According to a recent report, Meta has plans to release two versions of the Quest 4 VR headset in 2026.
When considering VR headsets, many are eagerly anticipating the release of the Meta Quest 3s. However, Meta is also focused on the future, as they are currently developing two versions of the Meta Quest 4.
The source of the report on Quest 4 is Wayne Ma and Kalley Huang from The Information. These individuals are well-respected in the industry and have a track record of providing reliable information about Quest headsets.
Ma and Huang proposed that the Quest 4 will be available in two versions, scheduled for launch in 2026. These versions are a standard model with the code name Pismo Low, and a premium model with the code name Pismo High.
Continuing on with this release, there are rumors that Meta will also be releasing a new high-end headset called La Jolla under the Quest brand. This device, previously rumored, is believed to be the Quest Pro 2.
The report did not include any specifications for either Quest 4 model. Additionally, there has been no definitive information released about the Quest Pro 2.
The only information currently available about the Quest Pro 2 is that it will keep the same rear battery design as the Quest Pro and is expected to include Codec Avatars. This Meta project has been in progress for a while and provides more detailed and realistic avatars that can be manipulated in real-time.
Firmware accessible to the public has revealed the existence of code for these Codec Avatars, implying ongoing development efforts.
At this stage of the product cycle, there is limited information available about the potential features of the Quest 4 headset. It is possible that we may learn more about its specifications and capabilities once the Quest 3S is released.
