Demo
A playable demo for Metaphor: ReFantazio is scheduled for release on September 25, 2024, allowing fans to experience the beginning of this JRPG adventure, with save data transferable to the full game.

Metaphor ReFantazio Showcase
On April 22, 2024, Atlus hosted an official showcase for Metaphor ReFantazio, where director Katsura Hashino presented new gameplay footage and detailed many game mechanics and the overarching narrative.
On July 5, 2024, an additional showcase aired, providing insights into the protagonist’s quest and introducing new travel companions who will join the journey.

Gameplay & Story Details
Set in the United Kingdom of Euchronia, the narrative of Metaphor: ReFantazio unfolds following the tragic assassination of the king, plunging the land into chaos. A magical force known solely to the king, referred to as Royal Magic, sparks a royal tournament for the throne.
The protagonist embarks on a quest across the world, forging alliances to bolster their claim to the throne.
Metaphor: ReFantazio combines turn-based and real-time gameplay elements.
Fans of Atlus’ previous works, such as Persona 5, will recognize familiar gameplay mechanics in this upcoming JRPG. While turn-based combat remains a central feature, an exciting mix of real-time action allows players to attack, dodge, dash, and analyze foes dynamically.
During battles, players can engage using Weapons, guard, or utilize Items. Additionally, players can harness “Archetype” powers and collaborate through “Synthesis.” While some skills, like Matarukaja and Tetrabreak, are shared with Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, others have unique names, such as the Wind skill Gacyc.
In addition to progressing through the main storyline in Metaphor: ReFantazio, players will have the opportunity to undertake side quests, delve into dungeons, search for hidden treasures, and strengthen bonds with Followers during their adventures.
