Metaphor: ReFantazio Surpasses Player Peak of All Persona Games

In just the first 24 hours since its launch, Metaphor: ReFantazio has shattered the record for concurrent players among all Persona titles on Steam, boasting nearly double the player count of both Persona 3 and Persona 5, and effortlessly surpassing Persona 4.

Developed by the renowned Persona creators, Atlus, Metaphor: ReFantazio establishes itself as more than merely another JRPG.

Fans seem to agree, as the game recorded an impressive 60,507 simultaneous players shortly after its release, as reported by SteamCharts. Furthermore, Atlus announced that they reached a milestone of one million sales within that same day.

The peak player count is significantly higher than any previous Persona titles.

Of course, while the figure of 60,507 concurrent players does not directly correspond to the one million sales, it’s important to note that this statistic is limited to Steam users, suggesting that the actual number of players across all platforms is likely much higher.

What stands out is that this new peak has outperformed the player counts of three major Persona installments.

As per SteamCharts, the highest recorded player count for Persona 3 Reload is 36,703. In comparison, the peak for Persona 4 Golden was distinctly lower at 29,984. Lastly, the highly praised Persona 5 Royal reached an all-time peak of 35,298, which, although impressive, still trails behind the numbers for Metaphor.

It’s also notable that, at the time of writing, there is a concurrent player base of approximately 14,000, which far exceeds the mere 1,000 players seen in Persona 3 and 4.

However, in comparison to Metaphor: ReFantazio, these numbers are relatively small, highlighting the game’s monumental and sweeping popularity. This is particularly remarkable given that the game is only partially available at this time, with its full release for PC players in New Zealand, Korea, Japan, and Central America slated for October 12.
