Metroid Prime 4 was first revealed at E3 2017, only a few months after the Nintendo Switch’s debut. Unfortunately, in January 2019, Nintendo released a statement (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLIv_UXI_So&ab_channel=NintendoofAmerica) announcing that the game’s development had been restarted due to not meeting their expectations for a worthy addition to the Metroid Prime franchise.
Development was restarted from the beginning, this time with Retro Studios, the developer of Metroid Prime 1-3, leading the project. Nintendo cautioned that there would be a delay in releasing any additional information.
Despite the passing of time, fans continued to grow increasingly worried about the fate of Metroid Prime 4, with some even fearing that it had been canceled or encountered additional development challenges.
After today’s announcement, it has become evident that Nintendo did not forget about Metroid Prime 4 and was simply allowing Retro Studios the necessary time to create the next installment in this cherished franchise.
Despite limited information about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the release of this initial trailer has sparked a great deal of enthusiasm and hope among fans for the future of the franchise.
