Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Our Wildest Dreams

Seven years have passed since its announcement and the reveal of its logo, five years since it was declared that development would resume, and almost 17 years since the previous installment… Nintendo has now officially unveiled Metroid Prime 4, and it has exceeded all the expectations of fans.

As the gameplay begins, we see Samus Aran exiting her new gunship from Metroid Prime 3, performing a superhero landing before embarking on her exploration and scanning of a unknown planet.

The initial glimpse of the game, now named Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, appears to be quite reminiscent of the original Prime titles, but with a fresh coat of paint, and that is definitely a positive aspect.

Following the well-known restart of its development, Nintendo announced that Retro Studios would once again take on the task of developing the fourth installment in the Prime franchise, having been the developers for all previous entries.

Fans have already witnessed Retro Studios’ impressive capabilities on the Switch with the stunning remastered version of the original Metroid Prime. It is anticipated that the upcoming Metroid Prime 4 will surpass even that in terms of its graphics.

The trailer begins on a rundown and ruined alien planet, but soon showcases a vibrant atmosphere with an abundance of lush greenery and jungles, reminiscent of the colorful and futuristic worlds seen in Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Additionally, it appears that a long-awaited plot twist will finally be resolved, as the notorious bounty hunter Sylux makes a comeback in the trailer, having previously appeared in Metroid Prime Hunters, Metroid Prime 3, and as a surprise ending reveal in Metroid Prime Federation Force.

In the past, the Prime timeline had reached its furthest point, but now it appears that fans will finally uncover Sylux’s intentions for the Metroid he had taken in the 3DS game.

Despite speculation from fans that Metroid Prime 4’s development may have transitioned to the next Nintendo Switch console, the recent announcement and Nintendo’s assurance that games revealed in the June 2024 Direct will only be for the current Nintendo Switch appear to contradict these theories.

The announcement from Nintendo of America’s X account has received an overwhelmingly positive response from fans. Hundreds of comments expressing excitement and anticipation for the game’s eventual reveal can be found underneath the announcement.

One comment exclaims, “THIS IS INSANE! THANK YOU SO MUCH @RetroStudios,”while another comment expresses, “This looks absolutely fantastic. I am filled with excitement! Thank you, Nintendo, for finally revealing it.”

In regards to the gameplay reveal, a comment reads, “This is exactly what we were hoping for, Metroid Prime 4 to stay true to the Metroid Prime style of gameplay.” Similarly, a Nintendo enthusiast expresses their excitement, stating, “Although I have never played a Metroid game, I am eager to experience this one.”

Despite the release date for Metroid Prime 4 Beyond still being some time away, the recent release of gameplay footage and the promise of hidden secrets to discover has brought the game’s highly anticipated launch within reach.
